The big news this season is that there are two companies with new mascaras out - both are special because their wands vibrate making sure that your every lash is evenly covered.
Lancome’s version is called Oscillation, and though it doesn’t officially go on sale until later this year, TODAY, you can get one for yourself.
The mascara IS one of Lancome’s best and you’ll definitely want to try it for yourself. The sale starts today at noon (12pm EST) and you can grab a mascara from the Lancome Website.
You can also get it from the Bay on Queen St. in Toronto or at The Bay Downtown Montreal.
Just remember that you must print the special email from oscillation.ca and bring it into the Bay locations to claim yours.
I’ve also been test-driving this for the past week, and honestly, it is NOT worth th $40 they want for it.
It flakes & clumps and is just so cost-prohibitive. While my lashes do look a little bit longer and a little bit more separated, I can also achieve that look with my normal cheapo mascara. I don’t feel that the vibration makes it any better.
I understand that times are tough, but I don’t understand the quibble about the mascara’s price. Lancome’s mascaras are usually $28-$32 and they are good - I have rarely been disappointed by one, and this one is $8 more because of the tiny motor it contains and it’s battery is included. Essentially, that, and the fact that it supposedly coats your lashes in a superior fashion is what you’re paying for. $40 may be too much for mascara, but what you’re really deciding is whether you’re willing to pay $8 MORE than usual for a good mascara.
I suppose that if you’re already a Lancome convert then the $8 more argument is valid, but personally I feel that it’s a little outrageous for an item that needs to be replaced every 3 months anyway.
I’ve used many of the high end mascaras before and I really wasn’t too impressed with any of the Lancome ones, to be honest. I do like some of their other products, though. I agree that generally the brand name products are often better quality, but upon comparison I still feel that the $10 Avon Supershock I use is better in terms of performance and value.
Brand and cost should not determine whether a product is automatically good or not.
I agree, Ginger. I’ve gotten the samples of Lancome’s products when I’ve gone to buy GWPs, and I don’t actually find them that much better. I’ll stick with my Maybelline GreatLash and CoverGirl VolumeExact (thanks, Henna!) because they really do the job. And like you say, if I have to replace every 3 months, I flat-out refuse to pay more than $10 or whatever VolumeExact costs.
In agreement, I will say this: you can get a stellar mascara at any price point and both cheap and expensive ones can sometimes be found priced at 2 for 1.
I also got this mascara for free through an online promotion, and I wasn’t impressed with it at all. There aren’t enough bristles on the brush and, despite the vibrations, the mascara ends up thick and clumpy.
It also smells terrible, not that smell is usually a deciding factor when buying mascara. Just a thought.
I love foundation by Lancome. The Oscillation product is too pricy for my budget. As I try to replace mascara every five months. I will stick to my Avon brand mascara. Thanks for asking
YESSS!!! I scored one - this better live up all the hype esp after what it cost me LOL
I got it about a week ago through a special promotion. I really like it but I don’t know if I would pay $40+ for it

I NEVER WIN ANYTHING, AND I WOULD NOT PAY $40.00 FOR A MASCARA WITHOUT TRYING IT FIRST, SO I GUESS I WILL NEVER KNOW HOW GOOD THIS IS!!!
