This is for all you dark-haired readers. I’ve always wondered what would happen if I tried to dye my dark hair a light brown. I finally convinced a willing friend to let me dye her hair. We started with a dark black and the dye we worked with was Clairol Natural Instincts Haircolor in Suede Light Brown. To the left is what the result was. Her hair ended up being a reddish-brown colour. It was lighter, but not by much. We got the feeling that the results would depend on your hair type and how long you left the dye in your hair – we followed the instructions on the box to the letter.
My friend was happy with the results but it was a blind draw – we had no idea what we would end up with and something tells me that there’s no way to predict the results.
Is the mystery solved? Yes and no – if you try dying your hair with a light coloured dye, yes the colour of your dark hair will change. There’s just no telling what the final product will be, so use at your own risk.
