Book Review: The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho

I have not read The Alchemist, but after reading a couple of Paulo Coelho books, including The Witch of Portobello, I can totally see why that book became a best-seller. The main characters are always in search of spirituality which they end up finding in the oddest of places, and in a society where people are looking for the next big thing, it’s a great fantasy to know that the key to your own enlightenment might just be under your nose.

Let me just make clear that I am not a fan of Paulo Coelho books. The fact is that things don’t come as easy as this author would have you like, and though literature can do a lot of things, it can’t give you all the answers.

I realize that makes for a cryptic book review, but if you’re the type of person that rarely has time to read, like myself, it’s better to pick up something that’s better written and filled with more substance. Don’t bother with this.
