Clinique’s Spring 2012 line is called Almost Spring, and it includes brand new shades of their Almost lipstick, all of them inspired by the iconic Black Honey Almost Lipstick, which debuted in 1989. At that time it was a take off on the Black Honey lipstick which was a deeper, black raisin colour that was an instant success in 1971.
When I was in highschool, I loved the Almost Lipsticks which came in a wide range of shades. I liked them because they were so natural looking and that was pretty much the only makeup that I was allowed to wear. I liked the slip tube (that they still come in) and that it was hard to find a shade that I didn’t like.
Looks like I’m not the only one who liked the Almost Lipsticks, because in addition to the Black Honey Almost Lipstick, Clinique has updated and reintroduced some of the new shades.
In general, the Almost Lipsticks are sheer and so look good on every skintone. With a waxy soft formula, they are easy to apply and wear more like lipsticks than balms.
The seven new shades, in addition to the original Black Honey, are Shy Honey (sheer pale pink), Tender Honey (sheer peach), Spice Honey (sheer brownish pink) , Luscious Honey (sheer cherry tomato red), Chic Honey (sheer warm brick), Lovely Honey (sheer raspberry), and Flirty Honey (a sheer hot pick and my favourite).
They are at the Clinique counter for $18 each.
