To the right, Robin Kay, president of the FDCC wears a brown dress with a matching brown headband. I love her look because the headband didn’t cover up too much of her hair. Her hair was out of the way and still looked “done”. Her look was very natural, with gold eyeshadow and peach lips and cheeks. She was positively glowing the whole night – not without the help of a little shimmer, of course!
Also at the event was the crew from MTV! I had a chance to speak to Jessi Cruickshank (on the right) and asked her what her favorite beauty product was. She said that she was addicted to her false eyelashes and didn’t go anywhere without them! She was super-friendly and her face really is as flawless as it looks on TV.
MTV is sponsored by MAC so that’s what all the VJ’s use on air and for all their appearances.
Of course, L’Oreal Fashion Week coverage would be nothing without a few pictures from backstage. This is a model getting ready for the Mackage show. All the makeup used was from L’Oreal so you know that you have a great chance at replicating the look at home.
Here’s a picture of Eddie Maleterre (Official Makeup Artist for L’Oreal Paris and the Artistic Director for L’Oreal Fashion Week) putting mascara on one of the models before the Mackage show. The look was intense – all the models had dark smoky eyes and short black hair (wigs of course).
Finally, a picture of some of the makeup that they used to achieve the looks above. The eye quad used is L’Oreal Wear Infinite Quatuors in Smokey Eyes (what else?). All the makeup artists were using the darkest shade to line the eyes – I notice that they prefer ed using a powder eyeshadow as a liner rather than anything else. Their mascara of choice was, of course, Voluminous Lash mascara. Foundation and blush was all True Match and colours were selected depending on the model’s skin colour.
Here’s a makeup palette with a few colours on it for blending. Notice the pretty shimmery shade – it was blended into the other colours to give the models’ face a healthy glow without too much shimmer.
In case you were wondering, even the shimmer shade is from the True Match line. The golden shade is really pretty and mixed with the foundation, it added just the right amount of glow to the skin, so definitely pick it up if you’ve been looking for that product to give your face a pick-me-up.
And that’s it for Day 1! Stay tuned for the rest of the makeup trends – I’ll be taking pictures all week, so if there’s one place you can go to for the Fall trends seen at L’Oreal Fashion Week, it’s Canadian Beauty!
