Estee Lauder Idealist Skin Refinisher

This new gem from Estee Lauder does it all – it makes your face feel silky smooth, absorbs oil throughout the day, and gives you that polished appearance that you crave – all with two pumps of Idealist Skin Refinisher.

Makeup primer this is not – it doesn’t have the typical silicone formulation or feel but it can be used before makeup and it can give you that same flawless look that most primers do. The difference is that it’s not as thick and instantly absorbs in the skin rather than sitting on top. This is a great product to have for those summer months and you could use it on its own to make your skin look pore-free.

I didn’t like this product! My skin is combination (T-zone) and this product didn’t work at all. I wouldn’t say it’s for a combo skin. I must say I love Estee Lauder make-up products, especially their eye shadows and lipsticks, but I’m not crazy about their skin products. I prefer Clinique.

What do you mean when you say that it didn’t work? I mean, as a serum, it doesn’t do that much. It makes your skin softer and smoother, and make it look poreless but that’s purely superficial. It’s a good product as long as you don’t expect it to work miracles.

I didn’t expect miracles – it just claimed to minimize pores and it didn’t on me. After a few hours my T-zone was much oilier that without any product. I use and stick to Clinique Pore Minimizer Refining Lotion. My skin feels very velvety for half a day at least. I live in a polluted city so my T-zone gets worse here. When I was visiting California for 2 months, my skin was and looked much better and Clinique Minimizer worked all day!
I didn’t like EL DayWear Plus cream, either. My cheecks are dry and it just didn’t feel right at all, I didn’t enjoy it. I prefer Biotherm Aquasource, Philosophy Hope in a Jar or Lancome Aqua Fusion.
However, as I said, I adore EL make-up line – eyeshadows, lipsticks, mascaras. I can’t wait to try the new DoubleWear Light Foundation. I decided to buy it after I read your review and raving reviews on makeupalley.
I didn’t give up on EL skincare – I bought a Resilience Lift Extreme for my mom.
Re EL eyeshadow and lipstick – their Mono Pure Color Eyeshadow – Smokey and Pure Color Lipstick – Pinkberry are a great combination for smokey eyes look with less bold lips.
Re your website – I admire your efficiency and I enjoy reading the reviews, it’s a good guideline and keeps me informed. Much better than glossy magazines šŸ™‚
I wish you could have a few more reviews on Clarins, but I understand there’s loads of other interesting stuff. I wonder what you would think about their Body Shaping Cream that is so popular?
