Ever since Project Runway came on the air about 6 years ago, I’ve been a huge fan of Heidi Klum – she is the producer of the show and each season is better than the last!
I’ve also always really liked Heidi’s look. She always looks radiant and her brown eyes always pop. Her signature look is a natural-looking smoky eye (light on the dark shadow but lots of black eyeliner), paired with the perfect nude lip. It’s a look that she’s worn on almost every Project Runway episode over the past few years, and it suits her.
When I heard that her Exotic Jewels collection was coming out this October, I had to try it.
The deal is that the collection was inspired by India – Heidi and Seal love the country and they even had an Indian-themed vow renewal ceremony last year. It’s suitable that the products in the collections have names that relate to India. The eyeshadow palette (which features a cream eyeliner in black, by the way) is named Hidden Palace. The lipgloss is called Pashion fruit, and the lipstick is called Exotic Spice.
I think I was drawn to the lip products in this collection the most – I’m always on the hunt for a good nude lipstick, and the lip gloss and lipstick colours work on a broad range of skin tones because they’re neutral.
Both the lipstick and the lipgloss are exceptionally creamy and look good on, but the formulation doesn’t do much in the way of staying power. The products are simply too creamy and almost greasy to last on the lip for any long period of time. My advice, if you want to pull off a look using these products, is to not use the lip products together. Use the lip gloss to top off a more matte lipstick and you’ll have a pretty shimmery lip. If you want to use the lipstick, prime your lips first so that it has something to stick to, and then top with a sticky lipgloss that will stay put (Clinique Long Last Glosswear is a good options as is MAC’s Lipglass).
The Heidi Klum collection is available at Victoria Secret Stores now and in Canada you can find it at La Senza stores. The lip gloss is $14, the lipstick is $16, and the eye shadow palette is $24 (very worth it).

Hey Clarissa,
The eyeshadow worked well but remember that I always use an eye primer when I wear shadow so there’s no reason for it to crease or not show up on my eyes. The colours are beautiful and the cream liner that comes with is icing on the cake.
