Marcelle Hydra-C Hydrating Gel

I haven’t used a lot of Marcelle products in the past, so Marcelle Hydra-C Hydrating Gel was a pleasant surprise. Gel moisturizers have really come a long way in terms of hydration, and this is one of the best ones I’ve tried insofar.

The gel smells pleasantly citrusy and is super light and refreshing on the skin. Usually, that means that the moisturizing qualities of the product are somewhat diminished in favour of quick absorption, but the Hydra-C Hydrating Gel keeps even my ridiculously dry skin hydrated all day without greasiness. It absorbs extremely quickly and doesn’t leave skin with that creamy, just hydrated feel so it’s really excellent to wear under makeup.

It also doesn’t contain any alcohol, which was a big shocker to me, because a lot of the light, summer moisturizers have tons to help create that cooling sensation. What it does have is antioxidant green tea, vitamin C and vitamin E, as well as hyalurionic acid to combat dryness and prevent moisture loss. Provitamin B5 also hydrates and relieves itchiness.

An amazing, amazing product for the warmer months and even coming into the fall season when the heavier creams that are better for winter chapped skin are still too heavy for everyday use.

Overall, a fabulous product. It rates high up on my list of great moisturizers and is just as hydrating as the Dior Hydra Life line which is literally three times the price of this amazing drugstore find.

$23CAD at drugstores or where Marcelle products are sold.

Great review! I just found out about this product as I was wasting time at Shopper’s, and I wanted to find out more about it.

Looking at other face creams by well-known brands I was so unimpressed with the ingredients! I’m a biochemist so I know what these things are/do and most of them are so harmful & carcinogenic. I think it was Vichy that contains polyacrylamide…which is a lab chemical that we’re not even allowed to touch without gloves! :S

Marcelle seemed to have the best (light) scent, and most logical and beneficial ingredients! I was actually impressed that a cream with hyaluronic acid was available at such a reasonable price.

I’ve read some bad reviews on the product, but it seems most of those reviewers had oily skin types. Glad to see that it’s a good moisturizer for us super-dry folks!

I’m going to have another look at it now. 🙂 Thanks!
