I love discovering new skincare lines – especially if they are local, and my new discovery is Page Ashbury Botanicals which is based in Toronto!
The line brings affordable but high-end natural care products to the beauty market. I really love the facial cleanser ($32) and the facial serum ($26). They both have the hallmarks of good natural-based beauty products – they go on smoothly, literally slipping over skin, they smell vaguely floral and herbal, and contain natural oils to make the more gentle on the skin. The packaging is apothecary-like glass bottles which are effective at blocking out light so that the active ingredients don’t deteriorate, and the simple packaging and labels are beautiful to look at.
The cleanser is low-foaming. It takes off makeup but doesn’t strip the skin and make it feel dry and tight. If I’m wearing a lot of long-wear makeup, I find that I need to cleanser my skin twice with this or use a washcloth to really get everything off, but I keep using it because my skin feels so moisturized afterwards!
The facial serum is definitely a keeper – it’s made up of oils and smells so good! There’s no silicone or filler ingredients in this serum – just a blend of oils! Check out the ingredients:
Oils of: Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed,Calendula officinalis (Calendula), Rosa Canina (Rosehip), Oenothera biennis (Evening Primrose),Prunus armeniaca (Apricot Kernel), Helianthus annuus (Sunflower), Prunus dulcis (Sweet Almond),Limnanthes alba (Meadowfoam), Argania Spinosa (Argan), Jasminum grandiflorum, Petitgrain bigarade (Petitgrain Essential Oil), Citrus aurantium amara (Neroli Essential Oil)
It’s a pretty impressive ingredient list and those are the ingredients that make the serum smell so good. It absorbs quickly and feels weightless on skin, which is another reason that I love it.
