Red Lipstick Isn’t For the Young Ones

A couple of nights ago, I caught Selena Gomez on Letterman promoting her new movie Ramona and Beezus.  Having never watched any of her shows on Disney Channel I was really surprised at her interview on the show – Selena Gomez is a very well spoken and articulate young lady – I’m sure that some of it is just natural.  She seems confident for her young age, but I know that part of it is also a lot of training.

I won’t be seeing Ramona and Beezus but it’s nice that one of my favourite childhood books is being made into a movie!

Anyway, on Letterman and at the premiere of the movie, Gomez chose to wear a bright shade of red lipstick.  Maybe she’s trying to look older than she really is, or maybe it’s that she thinks that wearing red lipstick instantly gives her maturity, but the plan is backfiring on both counts.  The red lip is overdone – glossy and just too much.  A nice red stain would have done the job or a sheer gloss would have worked better.

What do you think?  Is there a right or wrong age to be wearing red lipstick?
