Review: Shu Uemura Illuminating Moisture Fluid Foundation

I know that Wynzie is usually the one who covers the Shu Uemura products around here, but I got my hands on the brand new Illuminating Moisture Fluid Foundation and I had to give you my take on it.

This is the first Shu Uemura foundation I’ve tried, and I have to say that I’m really impressed by the texture and the finish.  It went on so smoothly – it was like smoothing silk on to my skin, and unlike so many other foundations these days, this wasn’t at all filled with silicone which works well but can be a little more difficult to blend into skin.  I apply with a foundation brush, and I can blend it in so easily so that it does look like natural skin on me.  The coverage is medium, and because this is moisturizing you can’t really layer it for more coverage because it’s just going to end up being a bit sticky.

When they say moisturizing, they definitely mean it, and this foundation does provide light-weight moisturization to your skin without being greasy or oily.  I do have combination skin, and I found that even with setting powder, this foundation got oily in my T-zone, but honestly, I did expect that and it’s normal for me.

I still use the foundation especially when I feel that my skin is feeling rather dry and tight, and not only does it provide coverage, but it also relieves the dryness that I’m feeling.  If you have dry skin, you will LOVE this foundation as the texture and finish cannot be beat.  For a moisturizing foundation, this has excellent lasting power – I found that I still had coverage even in the oily areas for the entire day, and that’s fantastic.

You can get this foundation at the Shu Uemura counter at Holt Renfrew.

  1. I hate how dry my skin gets during the colder months. And using powders irritates it even more because it makes it even more dry. This sounds like a great winter-time foundation. Would you recommend it for sensitive skin?
