Just because the trend right now is no mascara doesn’t mean that there’s no eye makeup all together. Nothing exemplifies this more than the look at Marc Jacobs Fall 2013 Ready to Wear presentation. Said Francois Nars about the look: “The eye is smokey, but round and defined, and we created really matte, perfect skin. It’s Joan Jett meets Marianne Faithfull meets punk rock.”
This look can definitely be done with whatever dark eyeshadow you have at home – the hard part is blending it properly and making sure the eye looks smoky and not at all messy. I’m dying to have an event where it would be appropriate to wear this look!
Although I’m looking for a special occasion to wear this makeup look, the Marc Jacobs girl would wear this to the office, it seems, since his collection featured pencil skirts, sweaters, blazers, and lovely over-sized winter coats. I could wear a whole Marc Jacobs look to work, and I’m not sure that this look would work for me. That said, a girl can dream of lovely smudgy makeup at all times of the day – you dress for your own aesthetic, of course.
Here’s what they used to create the look:
