This Just In

Starting today, May 12th, The Body Shop is lowering its prices on 300 products throughout its stores so that you’re paying fair Canadian prices. That means, that you no longer have to buy your Body Shop products in the U.S. to get value for your money. I, for one, commend the Body Shop on this, and couldn’t be happier!

If you’re wondering how prices compare on cosmetics in general, you should have a look at U.S. websites and then compare it to prices of items in stores here. The differences are baffling and quite frankly Canadian customers are being ripped off. The only thing you can do is not purchase items from Canadian stores if you can help it. I should add that the discounts don’t just evade us when it comes to face creams – clothes are the same, and one friend who returned from a business trip told me that she was “never going to shop in Canada when prices in the U.S. are almost wholesale in comparison.” Well said!

Again, I’m a huge fan of shopping online, and if nothing else, it’s good for comparison shopping. ships everywhere in the world and they have fantastic sales so if you know your jean size for a particular brand, I’d just get it from them. They also have a great selection of designers if that’s more your style, and a friend of mine recently bought a Marc Jacobs bag from there at a good price, so take a peep. Also their models have excellent makeup!

I stopped shopping at “The Body Shop” years ago because I felt that the prices were too high for the quaility/amount you get. My last purchase there was an eyeshadow that cost more than a MAC shadow (pan) which I thought was ridiculous considering the shadow wasn’t anything extraordinary. But, now that their prices have been lowered on some items, I might actually go check it out.

We europeans feel ripped of for exactly the same reason. Everything is so much cheaper “over there”. Last time I went to Canada I bought full price pair of Seven jeans (about 200 $can) and that’s HALF of what I would pay here!!
I get a bit sad everytime you guys complain about a 20$ mascara. That’s as cheap as I would go here. Try a 40$ one!

Yay!!!! I’m v. excited about the Body Shop thing: that one totally flew by me; I haven’t heard of it before now!

Which is great, because I just got a gift card to spend there ^^

Christine – I admit, I hardly ever go for their makeup but love some of the body butters and lip balms that I have tried.

Bodil – That is crazy! I wonder why things are so expensive?!

Rae – let me know what you get!
