Dr. Idriss Skincare Review

If you were even remotely into skincare during the lockdown in 2020, you were watching Dr. Idriss, better known as Pillow Talk Derm, do a live from her bed every evening. Not only did she talk about whatever was happening in the world at the time but she would also answer skincare questions and dole out advice as a “Board-Certified Dermatologist” which differentiated her from the other influencers (like me) who talked about skincare.

Now she has her own line and it is for a category of patients that’s under-served: women suffering with melasma. Having dealt with pigmentation issues of her own, Dr. Idriss understood the science needed in the skincare but also that it should be elegantly formulated so that it fit seamlessly into people’s lives. So here we are. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I have the Flash Mask, Hyper Serum, and the moisturizer, and I’ve been using them religiously. Yes, they work and that’s because they offer a cocktail of ingredients to tackle melasma and that’s usually what the professionals recommend. The combination of products gives you all the ingredients: glycolic, lactic and Tranexamic acid in the Flash Mask, Kojic Acid, Alpha Arbutin and Niacinamide in the serum, and vitamin C in the moisturizer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

They’re all products and ingredients you could buy separately but all of these work so well together and in concentrations high enough to work on reducing pigmentation. You might even feel like you can skip your retinol when you use these (although I don’t, I just use it on alternate day). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A word of precaution: the Flash Mask is strong, because it has 15% glycolic acid and 3% lactic acid, so use it as directed and follow up with a really lush moisturizer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you’re serious about correcting pigmentation, the only thing missing is sunscreen.

Where can you get the line? On the website but it’s also available at Sephora ! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
