… in the weeks before the holidays really begin (you know, the parties and such) I go on a mission to find the perfect foundation. This means that not only does it need to match my skin-tone perfectly, but it also has to be truly long-wearing, and needs to look absolutely flawless in pictures with or without flash.
My latest find is Hourglass’s Veil Fluid Makeup, which is oil free and has SPF 15. If you haven’t heard of the brand, you need to hit up a Sephora and check out the tiny yet well-edited display of awesome high-end products. The line is known for its primers and foundations.
This foundation has a light and silky texture which means that it goes on to skin easily. I found it quite easy to blend on with my fingertips (the warmth of my fingers worked especially well to move the foundation around), but because it’s quite liquidy, you can easily apply the foundation with a foundation brush too. I am, of course, partial to the Hourglass foundation brush which is pretty awesome.
What I absolutely loved about this foundation is the finish. It’s dewy but it feels silky matte to the touch. It’s a fresh look but it covers all your pores and doesn’t settle into lines even when you don’t use powder on top. Your skin will look silky smooth and flawless, but it’s still medium-light coverage that can be layered on to help cover whatever you need.
And the best part, is that the foundation will last all day and look fabulous. I’m not the kind of girl that carries powder around with me to blot and touch-up (though I have oily skin so I probably should), and I was happy with the wear that this foundation had. Yes, my skin was glow-y after a few hours, but the foundation and the coverage remained so I was happy with the look that I had.
At $70 this foundation certainly isn’t cheap, but the texture and look make up for it. The one issue I have is that Hourglass foundations aren’t available in very many colours which means that you’re either going to be able to use it … or not.
Pick it up at Sephora.
