Every once in a while a friend will suggest that we have some kind of get together where we make beauty products. You’ve seen the kits that help you make your own lip products and the like and you could make your own scrubs and even moisturizers if you wanted to. And now, there are tons of tutorials and things online suggesting that this is one of the things we can do to keep busy during the pandemic.
But I’m just not interested. I’d rather just buy the products and not worry so much about making the product in my own kitchen. The time that it would tale me to find the ingredients that I need and put them all together just doesn’t make it worth it.
Have you ever made a beauty product yourself? Are you interested in trying it? Lemme know in the comments!
I was open to making and using homemade products but like you, the thought of actually buying different ingredients and warming/melting/mixing them all together without any guarantees of the final product actually being more effective than store-bought products (+ the impossibility of being able to store them) is hugely off-putting. It really is way more hassle than it’s worth.
In addition, I prefer to eat oats/bananas/avocados/eggs rather than slathering my face with edible-slime 🙂
Henna,
You would actually be amazed at how easy it is to make your own products. There are a number of excellent suppliers, in Canada, from whom one may purchase all of the ingredients needed to make creams, lotions, shampoo, etc. While mineral make-up supplies are a little harder to come by, again, there are a few Canadian-based sites that sell mica, specialty packaging and everthing else needed to make eyeshadow, blush, lipstick and lip gloss. You can customize all of your colours and it’s a lot easier than you’d think!
Maja,
If might be easy once you’ve found all the ingredients, but it’s not easier than getting the product ready-made – especially if the product actually works.
