Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Face and Body Stick Sunscreen Review

I used this sunscreen all weekend and I love it – I actually think it’s so slept on and I’m not sure why more people aren’t talking about it. This is the Neutrogena Canada Ultra Sheer Stick sunscreen, that’s SPF 50.Text

It has a powdery finish and is a sheer formula. I know that people are worried about applying enough, so I really think that the best way to use this is NOT to glide the stick directly onto your skin, but instead scrape some off into your hands, melt it and then apply.

Boscia Fruit Acid Smoothing Foot Peel

I’ve used these famous Boscia foot peels so many times, but the last time I was getting them at Shoppers Drug Mart, the lady at the checkout told me not to throw them away after using because there’s enough solution for at least one more use. She said to just package them back up carefully for next time.

Text

They have reformulated these peels so that your skin doesn’t come off in large sheets anymore, but my feet were hydrated and more smooth for a week after using them.  I had a little bit of flaking but not like the picture that’s on the box.

I’ve talked to other people who have said that you definitely can use them more than once if you need to!

Mineral vs. Chemical Sunscreen

Last year, I asked people if they really cared whether they used mineral or chemical sunscreen, and I had 18 Yes, and 24 No. This year, I asked the question again, and I had almost the same number voting, (a few more) but the answer is overwhelmingly no, but a lot of the people who said Yes, said that they NEED mineral because their skin is very sensitive.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Text

I mean, it’s interesting because I feel like the mineral vs. chemical debate got a lot of hype last year and people were really into trying mineral, but now that we’ve all experience the annoyingly chalky finish, and brands picking and choosing what tint to use, or outright lying about their formulas, maybe we’re just done. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Almost any derm, aesthetician, skincare pro will tell you that the best sunscreen is the one you LIKE to use and can AFFORD to use a lot of. If you’re skimping because it’s pricy, or because it doesn’t work when you put the right amount on, then there’s no point.

All that being said – one of my kids has more sensitive skin that gets a bit irritated with the suncreen, heat, mask, playing outside combo, so on her, I’m using an unfragranced mineral sunscreen and it’s going fine.  Mineral sunscreens (look for a high amount of zinc on the label) are generally better for sensitive skins, and if you find that regular suncreen is irritating, then try one of those.  I would say do not go for tinted, and just cover up any whiteness with makeup if you have to.

Tom Ford Tuscan Leather

It’s crazy that this smells like actual real leather, but in a good way, but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised because I’m drinking hibiscus-flavoured soda water with no hibiscus in it.

Text

I want to say that it smells like a new purse, but it smells more like the store you’re buying the purse in, you know? Tom Ford Tuscan Leather was one of the original 12 private blend launches years ago (in 2007), and I remember thinking that the whole counter just seemed so bougie. This perfume still hits, it just smells expensive, but it’s not one that I wear.

Reusable Cotton Pads Round

Remember these?

TextThey are the bamboo pads that I bought from Amazon, in an effort to reduce waste around my house. I’m trying not to use as many disposable cotton pads, so I bought these instead to use with toner, etc. You CANNOT use these for nail polish, because it won’t wash off, but everything else seems to be fair game… eye makeup, excess foundation, etc.

As I said, I’m using them for toner, and they’re fine for that. They also come with a little bag to throw them in, so you don’t lose them in the wash, and they’re coming out clean, so that’s good!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

These are a pack of 16, and I find that I go through about 4-5 a week because I don’t use a toner every day. 16 of these is plenty for me.⠀When I posted about these, it turns out that LOTS of people have used something similar to this product and have been using them for years.  That was good news, because it means that they will likely hold up in the wash.  They come with a little baggie that you can put them in so they don’t get lost in your dryer.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you have tried these and want to share your experience, leave a comment so we can all learn.

Available online. $13.49.

Replica Music Festival

Apologies to everyone who had to smell me today, it was 4 (possibly 5) sprays of Maison Margiela Replica Music Festival. I’m usually a one and done kind of person, but today I decided to wear more….. in the name of science. It might have been too much, and I’m going back to 1 spray. Maybe 2. How many sprays do you wear?

Tatcha The Kissu Lip Mask

When Tatcha’s The Kissu Lip Mask first came out last fall, it sold out right away. Tatcha is becoming known for their skincare products and when you launch a lip mask before the cold winter months, people are going to want to get their hands on it.

The mask comes with a cute little gold spatula which you can use to dig out the product and apply it on your lips.  In theory, this is nice for not dipping germy fingers and nails into the jar, but… where to store it?  What to do with it after you use it?  Also, I find that when my kids use the spatula, they just scoop out so much product, and I don’t mind sharing, but it just seems wasteful.  Using their fingers gives better control over how much product they’re getting out.

Look at how gorgeous and shiny the mask is.  The main ingredient is squalane which is clear and a lovely hydrator.

And the packaging is a gorgeous little glass jar.

This lip mask actually works too – it softens dry lips overnight.

At Sephora. $36.
