Atelier Cologne Musc Imperial

I’ve been loving Atelier Cologne perfumes this year, and this is the 3rd one that I have from this brand and it’s one of my favourites.  It’s definitely unisex – it smells a little masculine to me, but when I wear it, it just works.

Notes are Clary Sage, Bergamot, and Musk so this scent is fresh and kind of stays that way.  It’s beautiful, long-lasting, and really luxurious.

I read that this scent was created in collaboration with a hotel, and I really feel like it smells like a luxurious hotel and I love that.  It’s just such a fresh and uplifting scent without warmth.  It makes you think that everything’s clean but it doesn’t smell like Tide either.

You can find Atelier Cologne at Sephora stores. $195 for 100ml.

Nars Dolce Vita Swatch

Here’s me wearing Nars Dolce Vita lipstick, a colour that I own but never wear, and then stole from my sister because that’s what sisters do.

It is honestly, “my lips but better” in a hydrating glossy consistency and I loved wearing it.  It didn’t always photograph the way that I wanted it to, but this is a throw in your bag for any old time colour and I am here for it.

Whenever I talk about Nars, people always point me towards this colour and I totally get the hype.  It is that good and has a texture that lots of people will love.  It’ll come off on a mask and has no staying power but it’s so nice. Throw it on before you get your picture taken nice.

Catrice Cosmetics Sungasm Highlighter

Shoppers Drug Mart has European brand Catrice Cosmetics, and check out their huge Sungasm highlighter. This is a beautiful rose gold highlighter that can be worn intense or sheer.  I think you guys know that I like it sheer, but using it with a heavier hand is great for the body!  It’s a creamy powder that just seems to last and last.  If you want to see it in action, check out this video.

Kerastase L’Incroyable Blowdry Miracle Reshapable Heat Lotion Review

Being quarantined gave me a chance to take out all my hair products and try them again, and that’s how I took out the Kerastase L’Incroyable Blowdry Miracle Reshapable Heat Lotion. This is a heat protectant cream that is meant to help you blow dry your hair.

I’ve used it on my curly, frizzy hair, and I find that the cream gives you enough slip that your brush just glides through your hair, but it doesn’t add any weight to it. That said, this lotion is light and because I have hair that’s a bit dry and frizzy, I found that it wasn’t enough frizz control for me. It would be a great cream for people who have fine hair with not too much frizz. It’s great as a heat protectant and will prevent damage happening to your hair.

$44 at salons, Sephora, and online.

Bio Sculpture Vintage Poetry Nail Polish Collection

This is the prettiest collection of nail polishes, and if you’re interested in finding them, you can go to the Bio Sculpture website and fill out a form to find a salon near you.

Here’s the whole range of colours:

They are all so good and just the right shades for this season.  FYI, if you go on TikTok even for 5 minutes, you’ll run into a video where some big name is wearing this exact shade of blue.  This is called Blue Balad – it is creamy, rich, and goes on so smoothly.

I really loved the colour, and then I used Sapphire Song to add some oomph, and that’s the glitter polish that you see above.  On my nails is just 1 coat.  2 coats will give you a fully covered glitter nail which is actually hard to find in a polish.

The pale pink is called Lyrics of a Lily and it’s also really pretty.  It looks just like your nails and I think it would look especially stunning on longer nails because it would make your fingers look so long. I loved this colour too!  It’s not trendy so it’s always going to be in rotation for me.

The reddish colour is Poetic Poise, and I thought it looks really sophisticated.  I wanted this to be peachy but I was pleasantly surprised that it went on a bit red, and I do like it on.  I think this would a great colour for going into fall.

Olive Garden (below) is also a great colour and very trendy – this sage green is the colour of my favourite t-shirt right now but it wasn’t my favourite colour of the collection.

This collection has everything and I love the quality of the polishes.  All the colours went on so smoothly which is nice to see.  It’s a thoughtfully formulated collection and line of products.

I hope you enjoyed these swatches and you like them as much as I do.

MAC Warm and Cozy

These collections went on sale on Boxing Day in 2009, and I just love the pictures of them so much.  These are timeless products too!  What do you think?  It is so hot outside, but I don’t mind looking at cozy images.

One of the collections that they released is the MAC Warm and Cozy collection. It’s a lot like the N collection that came out last year, because it has neutral and nude colours for all skin tones. I went crazy with the N collection and bought a ton of the 3N Lip Glass which I thought was the perfect colour nude lip ever. Now it’s repromoted and if you missed it the first time around, you can get it again.

Warm and Cozy had some different colours introduced, some repromotes, and a new all over body lotion as well as some essential oils for the face.

I checked out the Warm and Cozy collection at my local MAC counter, and there were no lemmings for me. I stocked up on 3N (first Lipglass in the image above), but other than that, the colours were all ones that I had seen before. I liked the image of the Spiced Tea lipstick (bottom right) but in person, it’s not quite as pink and as the name suggests, it’s more on the brown side. I do want to try the body lotion and will wait to see how that is on the skin.

Lanolips 101 Ointment

If you’re looking for an excellent lip balm, then look no further than the Lanolips 101 ointment. They say that it’s multipurpose, and it is. I use it on my cuticles and on my lips and in a pinch, I put it on my dry hands too after washing them.

With a lipbalm this good, you keep backups.

Have you tried the Lano 101 Ointment? It now comes in different colours too.

Available at Sephora.

Skin Actives Scientific Hair Serum

OMG, every time I post about this serum anywhere, lots of people ask me about it and I’m happy to be the guinea pig.  Does it work? That’s what everyone wants to know.

Well, it’s not making my hair grow faster, but it definitely feels thicker and it’s not getting thinner.  It feels nice to massage it on to my scalp and I know that it’s taking care of my hair too.

It’s not greasy at all which is what everyone is worrying about when they try out a scalp serum.

In terms of ingredients, this serum has it all: biotin, caffeine, antioxidants, and nutrients.  Unlike many scalp serums, it doesn’t have menthol or mint in it so it’s not going to tingle your scalp when you apply it and it’s more focussed on nourishing your scalp and helping your hair that way.

If you want to try this for yourself, you can get it from the Skin Actives Scientific website. $80.

Oh K! Hydrating Serum Mist Review

Ok, so if you use niacinamide on the regular and you want something affordable and accessible, you absolutely have to check out this Oh K! Hydrating Serum Mist at Shoppers Drug Mart. It has niacinamide as a key ingredient along with hyaluronic acid. Check out the ingredient list.

Niacinamide has great brightening properties and also helps balance oil production in the skin, so it’s especially amazing for the summer when your skin can definitely be more oily.  I love using it all year round, but I do avoid it when my skin is dry and sensitive.

I love that this serum comes in a spray bottle but the spray comes out a little clumpy because it’s a little thicker than water.  For that reason, I smooth it out on my skin with my fingertips, so it’s kind of the same as if it was in a dropper bottle or a pump.

It also has a bit of a scent – kind of like cedary perfume, and it smells so good but the scent does dissipate.

$14 at Shoppers Drug Mart.
