Eye and Lip Palettes from Dior Just In Time for The Holidays!

Some makeup eye candy thanks to Dior on this weekend. I love these palettes but I have to admit that I like applying lipstick straight from a bullet instead of dipping into a palette. I’m going to have to dig these out and try them on again. Dior knows how to make luxury eye and lip products that lots of people love. Are you a fan of Dior makeup? I really love the nail polishes.

Love these Holiday palettes from Dior because they come in shades that everyone can use! The eye palette is made up of taupy-grey and light pink with a colour for lining and one for highlighting. The lip palette is similarly great because it gives you options: those who love neutral or red lips are not left out of the game, which means that not only are these palettes great for gift-giving, they are great for traveling as well! Anyone going on vacay anytime soon? These two Dior lovelies are all you need.

Kerastase Elixir Ultime Review

Kerastase’s Elixir Ultime is a new groundbreaking product in the world of hair serums. This is the first one that’s made from a combination of oils but works just like a normal serum. Use this and you’re on your way to nice healthy hair!

Elixir Ultime is made up of all oils, including Argan oil. The oils used are:

Maize Oil extracted from corn germs of Central America, Maize Oil delivers emollient and anti-oxidant active ingredients for ultimate shine.

Pracaxi Oil native to the Amazon, Pracaxi Oil brings shine, nourishment and deep conditioning to the hair.

Camellia Oil harvested in Asia, Camellia Oil helps smooth the hair fiber, resulting in incredible shine.

When I used this, I was definitely able to blow-dry my hair quite easily and the result was very shiny, touchable hair. I also liked using this on the days that I wasn’t going to blow dry, because my hair still turned out to be super soft and smooth. It was healthy-looking and so shiny, without any build up or grease that can result from using a hair serum with silicone in it.

At $60 for the bottle, Kerastase Elixir Ultime is definitely an indulgence, but I haven’t tried a serum like it so I do recommend it.  I also have to add that this serum smells absolutely divine.  It is extremely luxe smelling, with a mix of amber and and Camellia, this is almost like having a perfume just for your hair.  It’s nice to know that at that price, you can get a product that’s the best in every regard. The bottle is also quite large and so it will last a long time.

Pick this up online or in salons.

StriVectin Multi-Action Supergreens Soother Cooling Gel Mask

I rarely mask more than once a weekend, but this mask has me dipping my hands in it again and again. It’s a cooling gel mask from StriVectin, meant to sooth dry and irritated skin. I imagine that this would be great in the summer, or on vacation, when sunburned skin can happen.

It’s great at the end of the day when you’re tired but what something refreshing, but it’s also great in the morning if you need something to wake you up.
The mask is a mix of water, glycerine, aloe, cannabis sativa oil, and other ingredients and it really is cooling and soothing. It hydrates dry skin nicely and when you wipe it off, you’ll find that you want to seal in the moisture your skin just absorbed. Apply a moisturizer or oil afterwards and your skin will feel happy.

$49 at Shoppers Drug Mart.

I’ve half-finished this bottle of foundation and I keep using it because has excellent coverage but doesn’t look or feel heavy. Check out the rest in the video.

What I used:
@armanibeauty Luminous Silk foundation in the colour 8. Bit on the dark side for me but it works when I use a highlighter too.
@givenchybeauty Mister Bright in number 5. Perfect for under my eyes. The rest is a bonus. I like a brush applicator.
@realtechniques buffing Brush to blend everything.
@lorealparis Infallible Pro Contour. Haven’t gotten tired of this yet.
@maccosmeticscanada brush.
@makeupforeverca Lip Pencil. It’s the best.

Olaplex No. 3 Now Comes in a Larger Size

Guess what you guys?  Olaplex now comes in a 250ml size at Sephora.  If you’ve tried it and find that the little bottle runs out too quickly, then jump on this. I haven’t seen any salons or sites online that have this size, so it seems to be exclusive to Sephora for now.

I have used the No. 3 Perfector for years now and when I first tried it, my hairdresser definitely noticed that my hair was better and stronger.  Now I’m still using it but I’m not heat styling my hair anymore so I know that my hair is going to be even better.

$76 for the bigger 250ml bottle, and $38 for 100mL.

I Tried Biologique Recherche P50

I was on a trip to London and had a breakout.  I had retinol with me but I wanted something strong in a different way, and on my way through Liberty London, I went through the skincare department, as one does, saw the Biologique Recherche counter, and asked for the P50.

Well, guess what?

This is a spa skincare brand, which means that they don’t want to sell you product without a skincare consult.  I’m actually fine with this.  If you’re going to take the time to look at my skin and tell me what it needs, I’m signing up just for the attention.  It also means that even if you’re buying this at the counter and not the Biologique Recherche spa, they’re going to take a quick look at your skin before selling you anything.

So the lady at the counter took a look at my one breakout which was driving me crazy, and told me that I actually didn’t need anything.  She was right, of course, but I just got the P50V which is for discoloration and exfoliating.  There are no percentages on this, which is annoying.  It’s a mix of acids, but you don’t know how much of each acid is in the formula.  They say that it’s a trade secret.  OK.

Well, I’ve been using it off and on for a few months and I’m not a huge fan. The blend of acids is actually too gentle for me and don’t seem to being too much for my skin.  I actually find that this makes my skin so much more oily during the day when I use it and I don’t like that.  The P50V version might be gentle enough for aging/dry skin, but for my skin it’s just not anything special.

Honestly, if you’re interested in a toner that can change the texture of your skin, then experiment with products from The Inkey List and The Ordinary where you’re not spending so much money on something basic. This just didn’t live up to the hype for me.

5 New Foundation Reviews

Guys, I’ve reviewed a lot of foundations, so here’s a compilation of what’s what.

  1. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation is the OG of amazing foundations and it’s still on the market.  Try it.  I would wear this daily but it doesn’t have SPF but that’s why it photographs so well. I need to make a video of me wearing this foundation – then you’ll see how nice it looks.
  2. Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation is an amazing drugstore foundation for people with oily skin.  Try it.  It’s one of the few foundations I’ve actually finished. I really wish the bottles came with a pump.
  3. Tom Ford Perfecting Foundation SPF 15.  I like the SPF, I like the airless pump.  It’s a thick heavy old-school foundation that does look like skin.

4. Hourglass Vanish Liquid Foundation.  Looks amazing on and photographs well.  Also thick and medium-full coverage.

5. Bobbi Brown Intensive Serum Foundation.  I really wanted to love this and I wish it worked for my skin but it doesn’t.  It’s kind of a tinted oil that looks natural.  Amazing for dry skin and has SPF in it.

KVD Beauty XO Vinyl Lip Cream Lip Gloss

I wore the KVD Beauty XO Vinyl Lip Cream in Carnation literally all weekend, and it’s my favourite lipstick right now. But first check out the swatches below.

The colours are: Carnation (my personal favourite), Lolita, and Rosita.  Of all of these, I didn’t like Rosita.  It went on a little bit streaky, but the other two colours, Carnation and Rosita, go on great.

These are opaque, highly pigmented glosses that set down so that they don’t move for a while.  They’re not sticky or emollient, but they go on slick and then set without drying.  The glosses are great to wear when you’re out and about.  They make my lips look nice and plump and glossy.

Love these glosses – there are only 6 colours available so find one you love.  I’m sure I’ll post a picture of myself wearing this soon.

At Sephora, $27 each.

Kevin Murphy Smooth Again Anti-Frizz Treatment

This is what my hair loves: Kevin Murphy Smooth Again Anti-frizz Treatment.  It’s one of those hair treatments that again, laminates your hair.  I really like this effect on my hair because my hair just stays the way that it’s supposed to be.  I also love the Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Finishing Spray for this reason.

Smooth Again is perfect for curly or straight hair that is frizzy.  I can use this when I’m going to straighten my hair, or when I’m going to air dry it to wear it curly.  In fact, the first time I used this on my curly hair, I got so many compliments on it. It also makes your hair look very shiny and so pretty.

Available in salons.

CND’s Nail Treatment Works!

CND RescuerxxI’ve never bought that nail polishes which claim to repair damaged nails really work, but I do have a finger that has a persistently peeling nail so I’ve tried almost everything out there and truly nothing ever worked.  I think it’s the combo of the inherently unhealthy ingredients in a nail polish base that negates any possibly good ingredients that might be in there.

When CND came out with RescueRxx Daily Keratin Treatment, which is actually an oil and not a nail polish, I was still skeptical.  I mean, I used their Solar Oil on my cuticles and it worked great, but did I really need another oil on my nails?  If they really had some great ingredient for my nail, could they have just put it in my Solar Oil?

But of course, I finally triedRescueRxx and um, I have to say that I’m totally BLOWN AWAY by the results.  Do you know people with naturally strong beautiful nails?  You know how the ends are whiter, thicker, and stronger?  Well, that’s what RescueRxx gave me.  In fact, I saw results from the very first treatment.  You’re supposed to apply the product on bare nails every day, but of course, I forgot after day one, and then couldn’t figure out why my nails looked so good on day two and three.

It was the new CND product, and now I’m hooked.  If I’m not wearing nail polish, it’s RescueRxx on my nails and they look better for it.

The formula has keratin in it and they promise that it will give you results in one week – like I said, I noticed the difference in one day, and a week of use means that the healthy look of my nail is sustained.

Pick up the treatment at a salon that does Shellac services.
