Old Dior Designer Palette

This is the palette I’ve been using for the past few weeks even though we are staying home because of Covid 19.  I’m finding that it’s still healthy for me to get ready every day, so I’m using what I love!  The top right hand corner of this palette is an intense shimmer, and the bottom right is a cream eyeliner which I’m using to fill in my brows.  The colour is really not intense enough to be an eyeliner so I’m liking it for my brows.

I’m going to be going through a lot more old makeup and wearing it. To stay home.

Sothys Paris Spring 2020 Bronzer

What is everyone up to today during Covid 19?  Leave a comment, I would love to hear from you!

This is the Sothy’s Spring 2020 Bronzer.  It was a little light, a little orange for me, but the texture is silky smooth in case you were thinking of getting it.

Have a great day everyone!

Bronzer is $68.50.

Some Things I’m Using Right Now

A quick review of some things that I’m using right now.

Kiehl’s BB Cream with SPF 50. I like it because of the SPF, the colour is a bit dark, and it also looks oily on me as the day goes on, so I’m not sure if I’m going to keep using it. It’s ok for once in a while but I do love my Maybelline Urban Cover which is also SPF 50.

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Intriguing. My Lips But Better in a matte finish but it’s not long-wearing. I do like it. I wish there was a sharpener in the back or that it was a twist up.

My favourite contour and highlight from L’Oreal Infallible – it’s easy to use and natural-looking.

Under that is the Bobbi Brown Illuminating Bronzing Powder in Maui which is a warm pink with golden shimmer. I love it but the shimmer doesn’t make it natural-looking.

Dior eyeshadow palette. I like the cream to fill in my brows and the shimmer on my lid.

What are you using right now? See any favourites? I know these are some that I’ve mentioned over the year, and I just keep coming back to them. Except for the Kiehl’s. Not sure I’m keeping that.

Catrice Cosmetics Self-Made Bae Palette

It’s a great time to get good at doing makeup, and I’m loving playing with some of the colours in this new Self-Made Bae Palette by Catrice Cosmetics. I love that it’s a nice blend of shimmer and matte shades – mattes definitely feel more modern these days, so that’s mostly what I’m using.

What are you doing while you’re staying at home?

These palettes are available at the drugstore – and they are vegan, alcohol-free, oil-free, perfume-free, paraben-free.

You can find the palette at Shoppers Drug Mart.

The palettes are $16.99 and are super pigmented and silky smooth.  The packaging is cardboard which I find disintegrates really easily, but there’s a nice mirror inside so that’s a luxe touch.

If you’re at home, have you been practicing your makeup these days?

Essence Lash Princess False Lash Mascara Video Review

In times like these, I’m wondering if @Essence_UK Cosmetics is going to add to the packaging on their products, and whether this would make a difference in their prices. They have a whole bunch of products that are less than $5 which is a steal at the drugstore, but there’s no outer sealed packing so people can just open and try products as they see fit!

That being said, this is an amazing mascara, that gives you volume in just one coat. You want nice thick lashes, then this is the mascara to use. I love it but I can’t believe I bought it. I bought this mascara before the Covid 19 outbreak, but if I was buying it now, I would order it online.

New, Sothys Paris Pro-Youth Body Serum

The world’s best defense against Covid 19, which is going around right now, is to practice social distancing.  That means don’t go to public places if you can avoid it so that the virus can be contained.  The more people go out, the more they put themselves and others at risk of spreading the disease, and potentially putting people at risk.

That’s all I’ll say about it.  I’ll also say that there’s never been a better time to catch up on all the chores and things you have to do at home.  It’s the perfect time to clean out the pantry, get rid of anything old, and make a batch of soup so that you can freeze some.  It’s also a great time for self-care.  Get those face masks out, and use your body brush if you have one.  I really love the Prana brush and my skin is really used to the scratchy feeling of the brush on my skin.  I don’t use it daily, but there’s definitely no time like the present.

Prana recommends that you follow up by putting moisturizer or even an oil on your skin, but I’m loving this Sothys Pro-Youth body cream that melts into an oily serum and makes my skin feel so soft.  It smells really good too.  The cream might not restore my youth but it’s got peptides and hyaluronic acid, two ingredients that are usually reserved for your face but are not on your body.

Available at spas.

Bumble and Bumble Post Workout Mist Video

Finally, a product for those of us who workout all the time but don’t want to wash our hair!

Personally, I used to always wash my hair after working out, and I started not to because I found that I could just spray dry shampoo in it the next morning. I just put it in a bun and use a shower cap while I shower, and then I take it out and let it airdry. Now I’m using this Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-Powder Post Workout Mist in my hair while I let it dry. It’s a mix of oil-absorbing powders and alcohol so that it dries really quickly and absorbs oiliness along the way.

The best thing about this mist is that there’s absolutely no white residue in my hair. Watch the video to see for yourself!http://www.instagram.com/tv/B9vAdc-JAht/

2 Awesome Cleansers For All Skin Types

Cleansers abound, but it’s all about finding those ones that remove all your makeup and don’t leave any residue. Here are 2 of the very best for all skin types and budgets.

1. Nars Aqua-Infused Makeup Removing Water ($37). This is totally oil-free, soap-free, and alcohol-free, and works as if it was the greasiest item on the market. Light and fresh, this cleansing water removes all traces of makeup in a swipe and leaves skin fresh and hydrated. I use it on my eyelids, mascara, and of course, foundation and it takes it all off.

2. Weleda Gentle Cleansing Milk (22.99). This lovely herbal smelling milk is perfect for even the most sensitive skin because it’s essentially like using a liquid cold cream to take off your makeup. Organic jojoba seed oil makes sure that you get hydration in one go too. Oily skin types may want to follow up with something soapy, but they’ll appreciate that everything comes off with just one product.

Clean Your Brushes!

Just a reminder that while you might be wiping your door handles and spraying down your tables, you also want to wash your brushes as they could come in contact with any germs on your face and harbor the growth of bacteria.  Make sure you are washing your brushes regularly, and that you’re using soap on them.  I use whichever shampoo I have lying around or a brush cleaner.  I really like the BeautyBlender brush cleaner because it really gets all the foundation out!

Have you guys seen these brush cleaner mats on Instagram or Facebook?

Well I have one now and it’s amazing.  You basically put your soap right on the pad and swirl your wet brush on it dislodging any makeup.  You rinse your brush clean and you’re good to go!

I’ve been using this for the past couple of weeks and I love it.  It’s so easy to use – the large textured areas are for larger brushes and the smaller textured areas are for smaller brushes.  The lines are more for rinsing instead of getting all the gunk out, but I prefer to rinse clean with my fingertips just so I can make sure that my brush is really clean.

Short story: I love it and use it and it’s not a total pain to store either because I just throw it into my drawer when it’s dry.  And it dries pretty quick because it’s silicone.

Get one – your brushes will thank you.

DIY Hair Treatment

My sister and I have a bit of an obsession with hair masks and treatments.  We love trying the latest and greatest oils and after a lot of research, we found that the best DIY hair treatment for dry and damaged hair is castor oil, which you can easily buy at Amazon.

Then I found this Natural Growth oil, which has caster oil, emu oil, and some invigorating mint that helps rush the blood to your scalp. You put this in before you wash your hair, leave it on for as long as you can, and then wash it out.  It washes out clean but leaves your hair nice and moisturized.

$55 on Amazon.
