Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun Texture Spray

This has become my new favourite hair product. Bumble and Bumble’s Thickening Dryspun Texture Spray is light and airy like a dry shampoo, it’s volumizing like a mousse, but it also has hold like a hairpray. All that without being sticky, tacky, stiff, or powdery.

If you want to add lightness to your hair, this is the product to use. I use it at my roots on dry hair and it just makes my hair soft and touchable, and volumized without being heavy.

$41 at Sephora and salons.

Aveda Dry Remedy Oil

This is an amazing hair oil and you must try it if you haven’t already. I first used this oil in 2014 and I loved it, and now that I tried it again I love it even more! And it smells amazing!
It comes in a small bottle that has a dropper dispenser and I think that’s because you’re supposed to use it sparingly.

aveda dry remedy oilYes, you can put oil into your hair and have it look healthy and shiny and not at all greasy.

That’s what I found out when I used Aveda’s new Dry Remedy Oil. It comes in a tiny bottle (tiny compared to most of the serums that I use) and it turns out that I only need to use a few drops on my medium-length hair. I apply 4 drops per side, and let the hair either air dry or blow dry it. As I apply it, the oil soaks into the hair quickly and helps define curls and get rid of frizziness.

At first, I was inclined to put more product into my hair – either a thicker serum, or some mousse, maybe a thickening cream.

But then I left it… and I’m so glad I did, because a tiny bit of this oil goes a long way and I’ve decided that I actually don’t need to add anything to it. I even found that it was easier to blow-dry my hair when I used this oil, and it dried a lot more quickly than if I had used my regular blow-dry gel in it. I still used the L’Oreal Elnette Style Straight spray in it, and the combination of both products helped my hair get straight quickly and stay straight.

This is also a great product if you’re trying to use less silicones in your hair, because it’s formulated without the use of those ‘cones (which can cause a lot of build-up in your hair).

The oil is 99.9% natural, and has been shown to instantly moisturize hair by 41%.

Of course, as with all Aveda products, this oil smells absolutely amazing. The cedarwood smell lasts and lasts, and I love getting a whiff of it once in a while. It’s completely different from most other scented hair-care products.

$41 online and in stores and salons.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir

I’ll be honest: face sprays in general make me laugh, because I feel stupid spraying something into my own face. But Caudalie Beauty Elixir makes all that worth it because it’s absolutely amazing – so amazing in fact that it’s been a staple on my vanity for the longest time and it smells so good.

The Beauty Elixir smells amazing and it does a great job of refreshing you from inside and out! It wakes up your makeup but doesn’t mess it up. You can pick this up from Sephora!

Thrrrrob by Benefit

Here’s a picture of a discontinued Benefit blush.  I loved it but I think they moved away from the box of powders.  Which is a shame because recyclable packaging was ahead of its time.

This is a sheer bright pink blush that can be built up in intensity, and I really think that it’s one of those that would work on a variety of skin tones. It’s also perfect for those people who just want a hint of blush to brighten their face, and don’t want rosy cheeks.

The blush does have some shimmer in it but once on your skin the blush is definitely not as shimmery as it first seems.

Empty video: Sothys Wrinkle-Targeting Comfort Youth Cream

Finished this Sothys Paris cream, and I’ve used nicer creams by them. Sothys is a great brand for really dry skin and they are only available in spas!

Nars St. Paul De Vence Eyeshadow Duo

I got this eyeshadow duo from Nars years ago and it’s still one of my favourite colour combos. The nectarine colour on the left is great for brightening up the eye area, and the deeper shade works well in the crease.

This is a great workable duo that works on almost every skin tone.  Available at Nars counters.

$35.  Also online.

Empty: Deciem Hylamide C25 Booster

Here’s an empty bottle of my Deciem Hylamide C 25 Booster – it was 25% vitamin C and left my skin so soft.  Of course it’s finished.  You can read the original review and lots of info here.

Deciem is definitely one of my favourite skincare brands.  Lots more reviews here.

Lancome L’Air de Teint Foundation Review

This @LancomeCanada foundation is from 2014 but it’s what I’m wearing right now. I layer it on top of a moisturizing sunscreen and the matte formula stays on my skin so well. This foundation is discontinued and the pump doesn’t work but I still like it.

Lancome Air de Teint FoundationYou may have seen me recommend this foundation in my May favourites video, and it truly is an amazing foundation.

It is not mask-like, caky, and doesn’t even feel like a foundation. It feels and looks like nothing on the skin, and just blurs imperfections enough so that they’re not at all noticeable.

Lancome Air de Teint is a liquid to powder formula. When I say that it’s a liquid, I mean that it’s really a liquid (see the demo in the video). You take a few drops of the foundation, smooth it on to your skin and that’s it. Because it turns into a powder, there’s no need to set it or even use a primer underneath it. It will go on very smooth.

Again, because of the powdery finish, this foundation ends up being amazing on oily skin but will work on nicely moisturized skin as well.

I even like to use it as kind of a retouching powder. If I start the day with a more traditional heavy coverage foundation, I simply apply this mid-day on top of everything, and it refreshes my look and works better – and more importantly looks better – than any other powder.

Seriously, you need to try it to believe it, so I recommend that you head to your local Lancome counter and try it for yourself. The foundation comes in 12 shades and because it is sheer coverage, you might find that more than one shade works on you.

Because it is super sheer, you may need to go over troublesome spots with concealer, but those who generally don’t wear foundation will find that it really works well as a kind of skin perfecter.

$46 at Lancome counters.

Beautyblender Lunar New Year 2020 Blend and Store Duo

This is the latest Beautyblender that’s available at Sephora Canada right now. This is a limited edition ruby red Beautyblender which comes with a cute gold plastic stand.

Just a reminder that you should wash your Beautyblender after every use.  I like the Beautyblender cleansing bar for this.  Also, you should replace it after 3 months if you’re using it regularly!  I wash mine and put it back in the stand to dry.

$26 at Sephora Canada now.

Cerave Hydrating Cleanser

Still on the bandwagon for this @CeraVeCanada cleanser, and it’s working for the whole family!  This cleanser is the first step in my night time cleansing routine. I put it on dry skin and then wipe it off with a wet washcloth.

The best cleansers are gentle enough for sensitive skin and take off all your makeup – and guess what, Cerave Hydrating Cleanser falls into that category.  You’ve probably heard all about Cerave – it’s highly recommended by dermatologists, and when I posted about it on Instagram, so many people commented or messaged me saying that it was the one that they used and it really worked for their skin.

This is a super basic cleanser.  It doesn’t foam and it doesn’t offer anything fancy to leave on your skin.  And that’s just fine with me, because cleanser is something that you’re just washing off – literally, it’s going down the drain, so you don’t need it to be fancy.

The Hydrating Cleanser is a gel consistency that’s creamy.  It has slip in it and enough moisturizers that it melts makeup – mascara and eyeliner are gone in seconds, as is long-wearing lipstick.  If it gets in your eye, it won’t sting or hurt, and after all is said and done, it washes off without stripping your skin.  That’s why people love it.  It’s more of a light lotion then a traditional cleanser, and it’s formulated with ceramides which help nourish but also melt everything off.

I like to wipe it off with a wet cloth, and then sometimes follow up with a foaming cleanser.

One of the best things about Cerave is that it’s available at drugstores.  $14 at drugstores.
