Chanel Spring/Summer 2012 Nail Polishes

Last week, I went to @HoltRenfrew to get a Chanel manicure, and it was the perfect time to check out their Spring 2012 nail polish collection. The three colours offered are April, May, and June, a concept I think is so cute. The April is a deeper berry colour but something that eases you out of winter, May is a bright pink, and June is a peachy orange that’s fresh. Of course, I went with June because it’s unlike anything I’ve seen before and I don’t own a colour like that!

All the colours are creams, which I love, and two coats gives you opaque coverage. Lovely, really.

At the Holt’s I went to, June was totally sold out, there was one more of May, and two bottles of April left. However, they did say that they were going to get a shipment of more polishes, so if you haven’t gotten your hands on these yet, all hope is not lost.

What do you think?

Jimmy Choo Eau de Parfum by Jimmy Choo

Latest this March is Jimmy Choo Eau de Parfum by Jimmy Choo.  What perfume has to do with shoes, I have no clue, but I suppose it’s an aspirational lifestyle they’re selling.  If you can’t afford the shoes, get the perfume, and you’ll almost be as stylist as Carrie on Sex and the City.

I found the perfume to be a mix of fruits and patchouli with some citrus right at the beginning.  The perfume is definitely strong and meant for those that have personalities to match.  I wouldn’t wear it, but I know people who would.  The drydown is nicer than the initial scent.  It’s a bit muskier and heady, just slightly sweet.  The great thing is that the pear doesn’t last as long as the toffee which is nice.

The bottle is to die.  Heavy glass that reminds one of Murano glass, it’ll look pretty on the vanity no matter what the juice inside is. It reminds me of the Viktor and Rolf bottle which was super pretty as well.

Available for $73 for 60ml eau de parfum, at Holt Renfrew, The Bay, Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutiques and Murale.

MAC Sheen Supreme

Gotta check out this collection because MAC introduces a new lip product.  The new addition is Sheen Supreme Lipglass which comes in a Stila-like clickable tube.  The formula is light and not as sticky as the normal lipglass.  All the colours have pearl in them, and the finish is super pretty.  Each colour leaves a glow on your lips – there’s not much pigment, but that’s fine because it means that these layer rather well, and work with almost any colour lip or lipstick.

The colours are:

Jasmine Honey – Light cream beige (frost)
Fuji Pink – Pale peach with low level pearl (frost)
Moon Beach – Warm light beige with pearl (frost)
Cherry Fest – rose with high level pearl (frost)
Sweet Bean – Cool beige with pearl (frost)
Almond Blossom – Pale pink with high level pearl (frost)
Mango Sheen – Bright coral with pearl (frost)
Asian Butterfly – Lilac with pearl (frost)
Imperial Red Bright rose with pearl (frost)
Dress Kimono – Mid-tone frosted plum (frost)
Black Tea – Deep brown with pearl (frost)
Suggested Retail Price $19.00 u.s./$22.50 CDN

Part of the collection is also the Sheen Supreme Lipstick – this wasn’t as much of a favourite with me, because I find that the shimmer makes the colour wear lighter than it looks.

The colours are:

Supremely Confident – Pale nude (creme)
Happy Hibiscus – Creamy white-pink (frost)
Fashion City – Neutral coral pink (creme)
Bare Again – Pinky neutral beige (creme)
Tea Ceremony – Neutral beige pink (creme)
Sheer Mandarin – Mid-tone yellow orange (creme)
Korean Candy – Bright orange-red (creme)
Supreme Style – Light coral pink with pearl (frost)
Royal Azalea – Bright mid-tone pink (creme)
Blossom Culture – soft pink with pearl (frost)
Zen Rose – Bright mid-tone fuchsia (creme)
Insanely It – Watermelon pink (creme)
Asian Flower – Creamy lavender (creme)

New! Burberry Body Mist Review

Burberry Body’s new body mist is more than just your usual flanker.  This is an alcohol-free version of the original Burberry Body  so you can wear it on your skin as well as in your hair.  The mist is super long-lasting despite being lighter than the original Burberry Body.  I also found it to be slightly more fruity-smelling, with a definitely sweet undertone that almost became cloying.  The main notes are still musk, sandalwood, and iris.  The sweet notes are peach, vanilla, and amber.

Available at local fragrance counters – $60 for 60 ml.

Love, Chloe Purse Spray

This is the neatest little gadget to come out in a little while.  The exclusive limited edition Love, Chloe purse spray comes in a rose gold case, that you need to unlock to take out the travel-sized bottle that’s inside.  It won’t spill or crack in your suitecase, and the best part is that the bottle contains two replacement bottles so you’ll never be out of Love, Chloe.

To show you how it works, I decided to make a little video, because it’s just too cool to explain in words. Check it out:

The details are pretty too – the chain means that you’re not going to lose the cap, and the bottle is engraved with Love, Chloe.  It’s going straight on my vanity while I wait for my next trip to come up.

$82 at Holt Renfrew.

YSL L’Homme Libre Review

I don’t review many men’s fragrances anymore.  Most of the ones that come my way… smell like… engine fuel, citrus, and alcohol. Why even bother?

But this one caught my attention.  I knew it smelled good on first sniff, but every time I smelled it subsequently, I found myself thinking “mmm!  That smells good!”

So ladies, since Valentine’s day is coming up, and men, since Valentine’s day is coming up: head to the nearest perfume counter and check out L’Homme Libre, which is a new flanker to the original L’Homme that came out years ago.

I know that I like this scent because it’s slightly woody which I love.  It has opening notes of bergamot, violet leaves, basil and star anise.  The spiciness in the scent is subtle.  The base is patchouli and vetiver which keep the scent fresh and earthy.  There are remnants of leather and resin which is exactly what a men’s fragrance should have.

What makes it most wearable – especially for everyday – is that this is an eau de toilette and it totally works.  $69 for 60ml and $89 for 100ml.

Bobbi Brown Neons and Nudes Collection – Spring 2012

I haven’t seen this collection in person yet, but I have major love for Bobbi Brown’s 2012 Neons and Nudes collection because it totally works with my personal aesthetic. I love pairing a bright lip with almost no shadow, a slight hint of a blush, and black eyeliner.

It’s a classic look that works every time, and best of all, it looks amazing in pictures!

It is my go-to look for special occasions!

The collection has a nude eye palette that gives the UD Naked Palette a run for its money.

It also has some neon lip colours and glosses.

The lip colours are Uber Beige, Atomic Orange, and Neon Pink.  The glosses are Citrus, Cosmic Pink, and Ultra Violet.

Pick this up at your Bobbi Brown counter this spring.

Lancome Spring 2012: La Roseraie des Délices (Lots of Pictures)

Check out a few beautiful pictures from Lancome’s spring collection! The trend this spring is pastel colours, and this is right up that alley. The colours are inspired by the garden and the boudoir.

The pretty compact you see below is called La Rosaraie. This is a slightly shimmery light pink blush. It barely showed up on my skin and I would use it more as a highlighter.

The palette below is called Vert Tendresse and is greyish green and aqua colours. They are cool-toned and wearable.

The glosses also come in shades of pink, tangerine, and light green (that really wears quite sheer).  There were also nail polishes in similar colours but those will not be available in Canada now!

What will you pick up from this collection?
