Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes Mascara Review

Only fair. I don’t ever like celebrity makeup artist mascaras. So many makeup artists just seem to use false lashes and don’t understand what normal people need from a mascara. Have you noticed this too?

Olaplex Dry Shampoo Review

This is a very light dry shampoo regarding weight and feel. It’s not strongly scented, which I prefer and I actually couldn’t smell it on myself. I couldn’t see white residue on my very dark hair but I use it under it, not on top. I use dry shampoo sparingly and usually to extend the life of my blowout. I’ll use it once then wash it at the end of the day. You could also apply it right after blow drying to maintain volume.

The best part for my perfume-loving friends is that this isn’t strongly scented.  There’s a bit of a lemony top note but other than that it’s scent-less but stink-absorbing. Try it out.

Bio Sculpture Gel Nails

When it comes to beauty innovations, the truly ground-breaking, life-changing ones that we’ve seen in our lifetime are far and few in between.  There’s Olaplex, Botox, laser hair removal, and now you can add Bio Sculpture to your list.  This is a gel product that dries with varying degrees of hardness but can be soaked off.  There is no sanding, drilling, or electrical tools involved, and you can even end up with healthier nails in the long run because the bases can help treat a variety of nail conditions.

This is a game-changer for someone like me, who has avoided the fake nail trend for ages because I don’t want to file off my already-healthy nails.  Now, I can have healthy and long nails with a gel coat that doesn’t chip and can last 3 or even 4 weeks.

If you want nail extensions, they can do that too, and if you’d rather get a pedicure, there’s that option as well.  If you’re trying to grow out your nails because you’re a nail-biter – this is a treatment for you.  If you’re trying to grow your nails after a time of not growing them, they will work with your natural nails.  The products are protective in nature rather than dehydrating and damaging – and as I said, removal is a cinch because you’re just soaking the gel polish off.

Not an ad, but they did host me and I was impressed with the service and how my nails look.  No crazy dust, fumes, or anything stinky, just a nice low-key manicure for that quiet luxury aesthetic, if that’s what you’re into.

Tom Ford Cafe Rose is Back

August 12
Hello to everyone, but mostly to everyone who passed over Tom Ford Cafe Rose the first time around, but is coming back to it now.

Like I always say, nothing beats the satisfaction of being right.I haven’t smelled the new version yet, but this one is with a sweet rose, an earthy patchouli, and an accord adjacent to coffee grounds. It’s nothing ground-breaking or overly fancy, but it was the rose-patchouli scent for the Tom Ford counter, and offered something more feminine than Noir de Noir, which never worked on my skin. I love the dryness of this version.

The rose is like dried red rose-petals, the base settles to a dry sandalwood that’s mostly just left on skin. For a rose-patchouli, this one doesn’t project too much and isn’t too loud, and I love that about it.My bottle is half-full and I went through a time when I wore this at the end of my day, every single day. And then I put it away because it was running out, but I don’t worry about that anymore. Follow your nose, wear what you love, and if you love it, buy it because it might be gone one day, or they’ll reformulate it.

Chanel Allure edt Perfume Review

August 12
Allure… like someone tried to combine Mitsouko and Shalimar. This Frankenstein of a perfume is so 90’s it hurts. The fruity floral mix of peach, jasmine and vanilla is definitely for someone coming of age at that time. This is a first job kind of perfume, where you want to be grown up so you buy a Chanel, but you’re not ready to let go of Vanilla Fields so it’s this Chanel you get. Nostalgia is great… until it’s not.

Bvlgari Petits et Mamans Perfume Review

If you had told me that the best packaging around would be a baby perfume, I would have rolled my eyes, but here we are, and this is the cutest little bottle I’ve added to my collection recently. Bvlgari Petits et Mamans, a baby perfume, is made in water instead of alcohol. The scent is reminiscent of doctor’s waiting rooms, vanilla oatmeal, and chamomile. It’s light, inoffensive, easy to wear in case you ARE going to an actual waiting room and want to wear something just because you’re in the habit of spraying something on first thing in the morning. For over $100, I’d say that spraying actual chamomile tea on yourself would be a better idea, but when it came on sale I regret not getting backups to gift.

The Charlotte Tilbury x Disney 100 Collection

August 12
This Charlotte Tilbury x Disney 100 collection makes a lot of sense if you spend any amount of time watching, reading, or listening to the news. There’s a lot going on in the world, and we, even adults, need something uplifting. I never got the adult fascination with Disney until I went to Disneyland one Christmas – it really is the most magical place on earth and I appreciated it so much more as an adult than I did as a child. I think younger me was busy rolling my eyes and enjoying the rides, but older me wanted to buy into the magic.

This new collection celebrates 10 years of Charlotte Tilbury’s brand, and 100 years of Disney.

Charlotte Tilbury’s Disney collection repackages the iconic Magic Cream, and all the Magic Cream packaging is refillable so people that get this limited edition jar can treasure it for years to come. Honestly, I have a Magic Cream in my bathroom and one beside my bed. It’s very rich and luxurious, like an old-school cold cream, and it smells slightly rosy but not too strong, so I love using it.

The Beauty Light Wand highlighter is also available in special packaging, and in two new colours: Spotlight and Gold. The original Pillow Talk is also here (of course it is) and I’ve swiped all three shades on the back of my hand. I’ll swatch them on my face later, but know that these are incredibly long-lasting highlighters and very easy to use!

Philosykos Eau de Parfum and Eau de Toilette

August 12
I’ve almost had enough of figs this summer… almost… I keep going back to Philosykos as an edp and edt. Do you have a preference?I have to say that I prefer the eau de parfum version because the cedar is amped up and it’s my favourite part. The eau de toilette is creamier and more feminine. It’s pretty but too soft, I want something stronger. Regardless of concentration, the photorealistic nature of Philosykos, that walk in a fig grove, offers a reprieve from wearing heavier, more intense and complex scents – a kind of olfactory palate cleanser.

Did you know that the Apple in the Garden of Eden might have actually been a fig?

JPG Classique edp Review

August 12
JPG Classique is a fruity floral that leans heavily on the orange and pear with a sweet rose. On smelling this, I immediately thought of the fruity florals of the 90’s and wondered if Classique was referring to them. It turns out that Classique is from 1993 and this just happens to be a limited edition bottle.

If you remember the Britney Spears perfumes, the Paris Hilton perfumes, Ralph Hot, and you liked them, then this one is for you. I actually think it smells better than some of the over-sweet perfumes that came out at that time, thanks to the tonka which brings an almond-cherry to the background, and a nice dose of vanilla. It might not be my type of perfume but I can appreciate why people love it.

Who doesn’t want to go back in time to waste time in an air-conditioned mall in the middle of summer? Eat fries in the food court and then get chocolate-raspberry Yogen-Fruz, returning home with a head full of gossip and nonsense. Classique is the perfect pairing.

Chanel Les Exclusifs in My Perfume Collection

August 12
Supermodels of the perfume world: the Les Exclusifs. I won’t say that there’s not one out there I don’t love because it’s not true, but the elegance, refinement, and sheer sense of luxury that this line embodies are unmatched.

In order of preference: Coromandel – delicious warm incense.

Cuir de Russie – soapy leather but make it Chanel.

Bois des Iles – ylang-ylang and sandalwood.

Bel Respiro – summer in a bottle.

Boy is going to join the group this year, I can just feel it. Which is your favourite from the line?

Oh, and a magnetic cap: *chef’s kiss*.
