Charlotte Tilbury Makeup I’ve Been Loving

Here’s some makeup I’ve made a major dent in. I know I show a lot of the latest and greatest makeup, but maybe you’re wondering what I actually use. Well these are the things that have stayed, sometimes as backups when the new thing doesn’t work. I’ve got them all within reach, and over the past year or so, I’ve used them a LOT. These are all by Charlotte Tilbury, some received in PR but not the contour compact. So take a look:

The Beautiful Skin Foundation. I just love the finish although it is super glossy. I powder on top and it’s still glossy looking but it just makes your skin look so healthy. I use the colour 7W.

Then the Lip and Cheek Glow in Color of Dreams. It’s the blush I use everyday, and I dab it on my lips too, with a lipbalm underneath. I hit pan on this, that’s how much I’ve used it. The lasting power is great, despite it being so creamy, I do powder on top, and I love how subtle it is and how blendable.

The contour palette. This is the Filmstar Bronze and Glow but in a cream formula that was limited edition. I use my fingers to apply and it blends to a very natural finish.

Finally, the Pillow Talk eyeshadow palette. As you can see, I use the glitter shade the most, but I’ve been using all the shades to prime my lids. I’ve been keeping things easy by sticking to neutrals and I think that’s why I always keep this palette on hand.

Empties: Charlotte Tilbury, Murad, La Roche Posay Sunscreen, Neutrogena

A few empties.

TextI haven’t posted in a while because I got tired of the constant roundup of these but now I’m back… I mean it was summer so sunscreen finished regularly, which is to be expected and I still have a few open because I’m still out and about. Anyway, let’s start with a couple of rose-scented hair products I finished. If you’re a hair person, Christophe Robin has the best scents and they are on the strong side. I do like that.

If you’re looking for a rose-scented hair product, here are 2 options, and you really get what you pay for.

The Aveeno Rose Water and Chamomile Blend Shampoo has a nice rosy scent, but it doesn’t last. The Christophe Robin Volume Conditioner with rose extracts smells strongly of rose water, and not only will you smell it in your hair for days, it’ll give you a little scent bubble to enjoy too.

Some people don’t like a long-lasting hair product smell, because they’re going to add more perfume on top, and in that case, the Aveeno is perfect. You get a fresh rose scent in the shower and that’s it.

I also finished the Charlotte Tilbury Push Up Lashes mascara. When you see that a mascara doesn’t give oomph like it used to, it’s time to change it out. The huge tub of Keri is from last year.

The Murad sunscreen is totally clear and I have a reel of it posted. La Roche Posay sunscreen is a fav and the Neutrogena Skin Balancing cleanser worked well and smelled so good! Kind of fresh but earthy. I like the clay in it because it left my skin matte but it wasn’t too foaming so I didn’t find it to be drying. I would definitely use this again. Enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are!

MAC Lipstick in Modesty

MAC Lipstick in Modesty. A bit lighter than Charlotte Tilbury Pillowtalk which is lighter than Nars Dolce Vita. Dolce Vita is so creamy and shiny and it’s really my favourite. What do you think?

Juliette Has a Gun Midnight Oud and Video Review

It’s fall and I just added this back into my rotation.  Rose-oud by way of rose-patchouli but with spiciness from saffron, and a bit of leathery birch tar. Starts off so strong, almost cough-inducing, but settles to a silk skin. I’ve smelled a few rose-oud combos and this one doesn’t really smell different but it brought rose-oud to Sephora which was new at the time.  It’s not there anymore and I’m not surprised… people might have been too surprised by it, and it takes a few minutes to mellow out.

Intensely romantic, like the first days of a whirlwind romance.

TextCamphorous animalic oud settles into voluptuous rose which then melds with spicy patchouli.

Here’s a full video review of it! Enjoy!

Guerlain Cuir Béluga Review

Guerlain Cuir Béluga… a best-seller from the L’Art et la Matière line… Beluga here is referring to the caviar and its luxuriousness. Perfumer: Olivier Polge, although if you look at the Guerlain website, they imply that it’s Thierry Wasser because of a quote by him. Official notes include: aldehydes, mandarin, patchouli, heliotrope, vanilla, amber.

Charlotte Tilbury Pencil Eyeshadow

Love a pencil eyeshadow and this Charlotte one seems to go with all my makeup. It’s a shimmer not a glitter and really glides on. Once it sets, it is very long-wearing but you can extend the wear if you use an eyeshadow primer. Have you tried this? Is there a colour you like? I normally use gold and bronze hues on my eyes but I do like how this one looks.

Kiehl’s new Retinol Fast Release Wrinkle-Reducing Night Serum

Text
Retinoids are known for being unstable and so the best ones have air and light-proof packaging so that they’re always protected. Kiehl’s takes things one step further with their latest launch by making packaging that requires you to mix up the serum when you’re first ready to use it. The serum itself has 0.3% retinol which is one of the most gentle Retinoids around.

Retinol requires two conversions before it’s ready to be used by your skin, losing potency with each step. That makes this retinoid great for beginners or good for days that you’re taking a break from your heavy duty retinoid. What do you think of the concept?

Would you want to mix your own retinol, or would you want it ready when you buy it?

When I posed this question on Instagram, most people said that they would want their serum mixed already because it’s annoying to have to do things yourself.

I tend to agree, but I also have to say that retinol seems to be one of those ingredients that’s hard to keep stable, so if you mix it before you use it, chances are that it will stay stable for longer.

Fenty Beauty Toast’d Swirl bronze in Chocolate Swiller

This is on sale right now so jump on it while you can, but it’s worth it at any price point. I have the Fenty Beauty Toast’d Swirl bronze in Chocolate Swiller. I use a huge powder brush and put this on my body too. The huge size just tells me that it’s meant to be used on both face and body and it’ll make you gleam.

Enjoy!

New Fall 2022 Guerlain Eyeshadow Quads

New for September.

Guerlain Eyeshadow Quad in 555 Metal Butterfly. Every colour is pigmented. I have a soft spot for hold sparkly eyeshadows and this one is no exception.

The below quad, 214 Exotic Orchid is a bit more wearable with a duo of neutrals and a gold that works well as a topper.

I like that there is a nice wearable neutral but also options to add a pop to your look. I doubt I’ll add a red shadow to my lids but I’m very sure I’ll be using the glittery gold. The quality of the shadows is amazing. They’re not too powdery, but still very pigmented and super-blendable.

These are available at all Guerlain counters now.
