Hair Perfumes I Love

You know when you give someone a hug and their hair smells so good that you hug a little tighter and want to hold on a little longer, inhale a little deeper, maybe try to get a little bit of their essence too so you can have the memory of that moment a bit longer or make it a bit richer?

Maybe you’re not a perfume person but you’re a scented hair person.

So here are hair perfumes… some by hair companies not perfume companies. These are some that I love and have in my collection. I use them when I want to refresh my hair but I don’t want to load it up with dry shampoo.

I mean, there have been so many times I’ve used or liked a hair product solely because of how it smelled and wanted to have a hair perfume to match. But the art of creating the scents that smell exactly like the hair products is hit or miss.

TextKevin Murphy Shimmer Shine. Golden shimmer in a bottle never looked prettier. Shine spray is light on the shimmer and heavy on the shine but my favourite thing about it is that it smells like expensive perfume – patchouli and vanilla seems to be why it smells amazing and I use it just for the scent. It lasts the whole day.

If you’ve ever used Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil and wished that it came as a perfume, (ok just me) now it’s available as a hair and body fragrance. Notes are vanilla and coconut so this is kind of a beachy scent perfect for when it’s cold.

Both Amika and Aveda have scents that smell exactly like their hair products so if you’ve enjoyed the sensory experience of using their products, they’ve got the scents to match. They are herbal, spa-like.

Diptyque’s Eau de Sens is the latest addition to my hair-scenting arsenal and it’s an orange blossom perfume in a bougie glass bottle.

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Brightening Flawless Finish Powder

New Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Brightening Flawless Finish Powder in the shade fair-medium. It looks white in the pan but goes on clear. The powder is super fine and doesn’t seem to settle into lines. It helps brighten but also sets your makeup. I’m using the Charlotte Tilbury Powder and Sculpt brush to apply.

Etat Libre D’Orange Remarkable People Perfume Review

Remarkable people

Wear this perfume.

Fizzy microbubbles in the most bougie soft drink you can find. This is a vacation in a bottle but no sunscreen or coconut. It’s a hotel on the ocean where there’s warm weather and people in business suits. The place you book because it’s close to your meetings not because of the amenities, because the amenities are basically already included and you go home relaxed even though you were gone for a work trip.

Here’s a more complete Youtube review.

Zara Shimmering Body Oils

Text
This weekend was gold. Maybe I wasn’t as productive as I wanted to be, but I got some rest and that’s important too. I swam, cooked, read, ate. It was a rare weekend where I wasn’t overly busy and I didn’t try to make any plans for myself either.

Let’s talk about the Zara Shimmering Body Oils because ugh, for $15.90 Canadian, and in heavy glass bottles, these were in an instant “add to cart” which never ever happens. First of all, they are actually not oils, so don’t worry about being a greasy mess this holiday season. They’re actually moisturizers in a liquid gel formula that keeps the glitter suspended instead of having it settle to the bottle. Because they’re NOT oils, they absorb into your skin quickly. I would love to use them in place of hand creams because they leave your skin so soft, but they are strongly scented and I don’t know if I want to subject everyone around me to that multiple times a day. I do like them after a shower, and I think they make amazing gifts or stocking stuffers.

I got two scents: Soleil Decade and Orchid and honestly, they’re both just ok. There’s something in the Zara base that always smells generic to me. Orchid has a big citrusy opening, almost like oranges, and vanilla in the dry-down, but let’s be honest, we’re not buying them because they smell good, we’re buying them because they’re pretty… But I’ll get Wonder Rose and Gardenia the next time I’m ordering. They’re not in stores, only online.

Dermablend Instant Mattifying Primer

The best primer ever. I’m using the Dermablend Instant Mattifying Primer. Something interesting about Dermablend: originally created by a dermatologist, they have makeup that can cover everything and lasts a long time. It’s no wonder they make the best primer on the market. PR. #dermablend #dermablendpro #makeupprimer @dermablendpro

Fenty Beauty Glossy Posse 5.0

Fenty Beauty Glossy Posse 5.0, 3 gorgeous full-sized Gloss Bombs. Although I love pink, I think the Gloss Bomb Heat is my favourite. In any case, they all come together as a set.

Fenty The Glow Around Skincare Set

Here’s Fenty’s The Glow Around skincare set. A set like this would be perfect for anyone who wants to get started on their skincare journey. It includes mini sizes of sunscreen, a cleanser, an acid toner and their iconic Fat Water which is a thick toner meant for hydrating before moisturizing.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Beautifying Lip Kit. I tried on the HappiKiss in the colour Pillow Talk. More pink than the original PillowTalk lipstick but still pretty.

White Nail Polish, Cream Blush, Perfume Oil: Things I Love Right Now

I got SO MANY compliments on my white nails this week! I think they looked so well done – the opacity of this nail polish, and the short nails – that so many people asked me if they were fake. Of course, they’re not. They’re mine and they’re spectacular. But seriously, the Sundays polish in 01 Opaque Snow White from The Industry Shop and it is the best I’ve ever tried and I even had people ask me if they could try it.

Avarelle Pimple patches – they go on totally clear, and help apply a dose of tea tree oil to heal pimples. They are the best-selling pimple patches on Amazon, and they come in larger sizes too so that you can use them on your body.

The Fenty Beauty Cream Blush Duo that’s limited-edition and out for Christmas is so good. I use both colours – the mauve one and then a bit of the brighter pink in the centre of my cheek. I also use the mauve shade on my lips and that’s how I’m wearing it in my selfie. I love this formula and have this blush in Rosé Latte too and I think I need to pull it out again. It’s a cream-to-powder formula that blends really nicely. You could set it but even if you don’t, the finish lasts a long time as long as you don’t touch your face.

Dermablend primer. This is the best primer I’ve ever used, so I’ve gotten rid of any other primers that I had. it’s a bit of a watery gel, but it’s matte and stays matte. You could even use it on bare skin to take down the shine of sunscreen or apply it when you notice that your face is getting shiny. I even mix my foundation into it and make my own sheer tint that’s not at all oily. I’m using the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Foundation and the two go well together.

Riddle perfume oil discovery kit. I loved this so much that I took the whole kit to work with me but also brought it back home so I wouldn’t be without it over the weekend. I popped off the rollerball and mixed some oil into my body serum.

Empties: Neutrogena, K18, Lise Watier, Christophe Robin, Aveeno

Text
Empties from the past few weeks. I’ve mentioned all of these in passing, and have reviewed them at some point, but here goes.

Neutrogena Stubborn Marks PM Treatment. I would say that this didn’t seem to be overly effective. They said that this had Retinol SA in it which is “highly refined” but there’s no mention of how much… The term “stubborn marks” is also vague… when there’s a new mark… it seems stubborn because of our own perception, but is that the same as a sunspot that is going to be more persistent?

I did love the Neutrogena Stubborn Texture Cleanser. It’s gently foaming so I like that but not stripping.

K18. I don’t know why, I gave this another chance. I think I’m going to say that if this is doing anything, I can’t tell, so … pass for me. Honestly, I think the best thing for my hair is the @keratinworks treatment because after it I can wash and go instead of blow-drying and maybe that’s the best thing.

Christophe Robin Luscious Curl Cleansing Balm – I love this after swimming in the pool because it’s kind of like shampoo and conditioner in one. It doesn’t foam, and it’s not for a deep clean. I only used it twice a week, but I do like it and would repurchase it.

Lise Watier Sublimessence Vitamin C serum – I loved this serum. I did think that it made my skin look more glowy and it was easy to use with my other skincare.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash – again, nice and not too drying. I would use it again, especially in the winter time!
