La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50+

Congratulations, you got your hands on the most hyped sunscreen of the year, and it is completely average. TextIt’s the La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra Fluid Invisible Finish. I mean, it’s fine. Powdery finish, clear, liquidy. Goes on like nothing and feels like nothing. But there are tons of other sunscreens that offer that too, and if it’s a chemical sunscreen (so not mineral, no zinc oxide) then the sunscreen SHOULD be clear. So actually, because of the powdery finish, this is great for oily skin types, but I wouldn’t use it if my skin was dry or if I had dry patches. I know a lot of you LOVE this – so tell me what you love about it.

All my comments said that it’s the mineral version of this sunscreen that they really liked, and they like that makeup layers well over this without making your skin greasy, and I can 100% agree with all of that.  I just think that this is owned by L’Oreal and they own and make. a lot of sunscreen, so you could get Vichy if you’re having a hard time finding the La Roche Posay.

Also, it’s been about 6 months since I got this sunscreen and I haven’t run out of it yet, because I’m not wearing it that much of it and reach for my tinted sunscreen more than anything else.

Bliss Niacinamide Toner Review

Niacinamide is an ingredient that helps with barrier function and pigmentation with fewer side effects. When I use it in my skincare routine, I find that it also seems to lead to less oily skin.

TextThis

Bliss Disappearing Act Niacinamide toner is super gentle – I can use it morning and night – and although nothing makes your pores vanish, I like it for it’s skin balancing effect. I’ve heard from some of you who are waiting for me to work through my Bliss skincare and share what I like. Well, this one is another winner. Bliss is now available at your local Shoppers Drug Mart.

Gardener’s Glove by St. Clair Scents

Wearing Gardener’s Glove by St. Clair Scents, and it’s got all the things I don’t like but I still love it.

Text

Funny how that happens. Fruit, leather, and then moss.  As the name suggests, this is a leather scent that really channels the outdoors. It has a fruity opening, and you can literally smell the fruit ripening and then falling off the tree, and then rotting as you wear the scent. There’s the smell of fermentation that turns into dirt, and settles into a mossy leathery finish within half an hour. It’s such a comforting smell because it just takes you away from everything.

I have a travel size bottle.

The 13mL was $75 on the St. Clair Scents website.

Tom Ford Lipstick Swatch in Scarlet

Got a mini Tom Ford lipstick with a Sephora order and here’s how it looks.Text

The colour is called Scarlet. I didn’t use lip balm or gloss and you can see how creamy and shiny it is. Honestly, that’s not my fav texture for a bright colour, but this would be preferred for a neutral and it really hid any dryness I had on my lips.

(No filter or retouch on this image either, and I think the colour photographed exactly how it looks in person.)

Carthusia

10 years ago, I went to a Carthusia store in Capri, and of course, bought a bottle of perfume (I’ve been into perfume for a long long time). I have no idea what I bought, and I rarely ever wore it. I actually have no idea what happened to the bottle I bought, but I hope someone out there is enjoying it. ⠀⠀⠀Text

All these Carthusia scents have a lightness and transparency to them, which I’m not really into, and the one I liked the best is Corallium which has a heaviness thanks to myrhh. Mediterraneo was nice too, and probably more wearable for the heat we are having. It’s a citrusy green tea blend, that of course feels light. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Putting these away for now.

Side by Side Smelling

Doing a little side-by-side smelling today to remind myself of these two and going to add a third to the mix tomorrow. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I’ve talked about both Le Labo Santal 33 and Maison Louis Marie No. 04 before, and the two are so similar. They’re both woody scents that are easy to wear. Santal is stronger, and has way more sillage and projection initially, whereas the No. 04 is softer, rounder, without any harsh edges, and sits closer to the skin. No. 4 also has slightly lemony top notes, and the Santal gets drier but stays complex as it wears. Hours after the first spray, Santal smells interesting, whereas the No. 4 is a little plain but maybe only because it’s in comparison to the Santal.

Text ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Both are lovely, they’re not the same, but they’re similar types of scents. The No. 04 will be easier on the wallet, but you might need more sprays. It’s also easier to find and sample since it’s at Sephora, but Le Labo is at Nordstrom where they’ll make you a sample if you ask, and you can take it home and smell it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Both of these are androgynous hotel lobby kind of scents, and they’re nice, but for me, I think I’m over them. Hotel Lobby scents are meant to be soothing, comforting, and maybe when I’m busier either of these would be a nice easy one to reach for.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

What do you think? Does anyone out there own a bottle of either of these, and do you find yourself reaching for it?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Side-by-side smelling is so fun.

Antipodes Glow Ritual Vitamin C Review

Vitamin C that doesn’t pill: Antipodes Glow Ritual Vitamin C serum.

Text It’s water-based so it sinks into your skin and absorbs quickly. That’s what I want in a vitamin C serum and then I want to move on to the rest of my skincare routine. Other than that, it’s got a bit of shimmer in the formula which makes no difference. Sunscreen covers everything and that’s that.

Christophe Robin Volume Conditioner Review

Conditioner but make it luxuriously rosewater-scented, light but hydrating, a treat to reach for again and again. Absolutely the best rose-scent in a hair product (and I’ve tried a lot).TextChristophe Robin Volume Conditioner is best for fine hair that finds itself weighed down by anything too rich. I alternate between this and a purple conditioner and I’m pretty happy with the highlights and state of my hair overall.

Nars Soft Matte Concealer

No filter on this @narsisst Soft Matte concealer. It’s one I use on my face and not under my eyes. This colour is a bit warm. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Text

I’m surprised I don’t see people talk about this concealer more. It’s so smooth and looks like skin.  Have you used this? Maybe you’re more for the creamy concealer?

Rose 31 Soap

Real thankful for all the hotel soaps I stuffed in my bags over the years, and may I never be above asking room service for a restock. I’m using this Le LaboRose 31 soap now in hopes that I’ll be able to replenish my stash soon.
Text

The soap smelled good in the box, but the scent doesn’t last once you’re in the shower.  In fact, by the time the soap was finishing it really didn’t smell like anything. Maybe because this was so old.
