Empties: Bliss and Strivectin

Used the last of my Bliss Peel Pads this week and I did really enjoy these.

Text

They’re so saturated with solution that there’s enough for practically your whole body. I definitely used them on the back of my hands and arms, just remember the sunscreen if you’re using any kind of exfoliator.

I also finished an eye cream! Strivectin makes the best eye creams and this balm was soothing to my very dry eye area. I’m not normally an eye cream person, I just use my face products in that area and it seems to be working fine. Before this year, I didn’t even use under eye concealer, not that I didn’t need it, but I just lived with whatever was going on there. Anyway – eye cream and under eye concealer are the two things people always ask me about.

Travel Size

Some favourites that go around with me.

Text

A travel perfume – this gets swapped out all the time, depending on what I’m obsessed with at the moment. A long-wear lipstick and long-wear lip cream. Some Frederic Malle skincare product samples. I do love the formula of them and they are not too too scented, which is really nice. I kind of want the scent body products to layer and work with perfume.

Hemp Skincare Made in Canada

Text

Chanv is a line of Hemp Oil skincare products made in Quebec, Canada and as you can see, they’ve been getting a lot of use around here. They smell amazing thanks to the lavender and tea tree oil, and they’re light but moisturizing. The bath and massage oil gets used right after a shower and the ointment is great for extra dry spots.

If I had to pick a favourite product, it would be the ointment because it really does relieve dry itchy skin for along time.  Check out the ingredients: the cannabis sativa oil is right at the top of the list followed by other ingredients.  This balm is super intense and really relieves dry itchy skin. I’ve even used it on my kids.

You can find the line here.

Bliss Clear Genius Clarifying Toner + Serum

Bliss Skincare is now at Shoppers Drug Mart, and I’ve tried a few things but this is the only Bliss product that I’ve put off to the side for now.

TextI

It’s the Clear Genius Clarifying Toner + Serum, and it’s got a cocktail of ingredients: BHA, Niacinamide, Zinc, and Cica. It’s meant to calm skin and help get rid of mild congestion. It’s pretty gentle, actually! But this is a serum consistency that’s thick. It doesn’t absorb into cotton pads and just sits on top. It’s also weird to use it with this pump dispenser. Bliss actually has nice serums and other acid toning pads that I like better so I’d use those. Have you see Bliss at your local Shoppers Drug Mart yet?

Christophe Robin Cleansing Volumizing Paste

Maybe you can’t imagine putting a salt-clay mixture in your hair, but this Christophe Robin Cleansing Volumizing Paste smells like rose water and the scent wafts up to you as soon as you open the tub.

TextThere’s no choice but to dip your hand in and try it. This is and intensely foaming formula. Start with a nickel sized dollop and rub between your hands to get it foaming before applying to your scalp. This shampoo, like most volumizing formulas gives a very thorough clean, so it’s best for a weekly cleanse rather than a daily one.

Katy Perry Indi Perfume Review

Not bad for a $20 blind buy.Text

Katy Perry Indi is a soft woody musk. It’s so light that it resists over spraying. The mist is so fine that it works as a hair perfume and you’ll get wafts of it every time you flip your hair. Powdery and soft, this is comforting, and possibly even an office scent if you’re on the hunt for one. Comparisons are to Santal 33 (which is much stronger), Balincourt no. 04 (pretty close).

Empties: The Ordinary, Antipodes, and Sol de Janeiro

End of weekend empties roundup. @deciem The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Solution. I know this is on the mild side but it helped keep my skin clear without so much dryness. I’d repurchase this actually. A small size of the @soldejaneiro Bum Bum Cream. @antipodesskincare Divine Face Oil. So divine. I did really enjoy this one.

Amika Favourites

3 Amika products that I really love.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Text

Bust Your Brass Intense Repair Mask. This is the most pigmented purple hair mask that I have, and I’ve been finding that it keeps my lightened ends from being too brassy. For once, I really like my highlights and am even thinking of getting more. I apply the mask on dry hair and leave on for about 20 minutes and then wash it off. It’s super purple so I like to wear gloves before I apply it. I do this once or twice a week. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Power Hour Curl Refreshing Spray. I’m not into refreshing my dry hair, but I use this kind of as a leave in when my hair is wet. It has a bit of hold, some hydration, and makes my hair shiny but not greasy. It’s a first step, and then I follow up with a serum or some sort of hair cream. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The Kure Multi-Task Repair Treatment. Actually, I loved the whole Kure line when I tried it earlier this year, and I would highly recommend it. It is so nice and leaves your hair super smooth. This Kure treatment doesn’t get used much because I do have a lot of treatment type products in rotation, but I like it and I’ll keep using it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Have you tried any of these? What do you think?

Tom Ford Black Orchid

If you sat next to someone on the subway in Toronto smelling like this in 2007, it was probably me, because that’s what I think of when I smell Tom Ford Black Orchid.

Text⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I love how scent can take you back, but I also can’t believe I liked this so much, or maybe there just wasn’t anything better around me at that time.  The chocolate note in this completely turned me off, but when it went away, it has that classic Tom Ford patchouli musk that makes it so lovable.

Lush Old Packaging

Old Lush Cosmetics perfume packaging was literally the most annoying ever.

TextIt had no label and you couldn’t be sure how much you had left. I know the one I’m holding is Imogen Rose because that’s the only one I got a full bottle of. I know they wanted it to make it so that it was impermeable to light and the juice would stay fresh, but seriously, someone could have gotten their label maker out. If you still have yours, drop a comment. I haven’t seen any old bottles out there.
