5 Fragrances on my Wishlist

Here are 5 scents I’m thinking of purchasing. Really thinking of doing a slow-buy rather than anything else, and I’m trying to get through all my samples before I hit that buy button.

Fragrances mentioned:
Eau de Jane – https://eaudejane.com/
Camel by Zoologist (from Toronto! But not available in Toronto, sadly).
Gardener’s Glove by St. Clair Scents.
Frederic Malle Lipstick Rose
Moab by Phlur

Are any of these your favourites?

Empties: Live Clean, Bliss, Ilia

Just 3 empties this time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Text⠀⠀⠀⠀

Live Clean Shampoo – the cannabis one. For a sulfate-free shampoo this lathers A LOT! The Argan oil one is most moisturizing but this one is not bad. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Bliss wipes – I opened the pack when I was going out of town so I had to use them up. They’re very wet and they take off everything . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Ilia Volumizing Mascara. I loved this. Full lashes in one swipe. I would buy the full size but I have a few mascaras I need to finish.

Neutrogena Bright Boost Moisturizer SPF 30 Review

Thoughts on a couple of Neutrogena things that I finished.

The clear empty bottle was full of vitamin C capsules. They are the Rapid Tone Repair 20% Vitamin C Serum.

I love this format for travel because it’s easy to throw into any kind of bag. I would get these again if I was going on a trip. The formula is a strong one – at 20% – so it’s a little ouchy if your skin is dry or sensitive. It’s $35… for a 30 day supply.Text

The Bright Boost Moisturizer with SPF 30 is a 10/10 for me. Makes it look like you’re wearing makeup even when you’re not. I loved it.

Vitamin C Capsules

Are they worth it?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

TextSerum packaged in tiny single-use (or double-use in the case of Vichy) is not a new concept, but with these drugstore offerings, the question ends up being how cost-effective each option is. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

On the one hand, vitamin C is volatile, and single-use packaging ensures that the formula stays fresh. How many of us have shilled out for an expensive serum, forgotten about it, and then realized that it’s brown and stinky upon opening? That’s definitely a waste of money. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But a box of vitamin C capsules or vials costs about $40-50 per month, whereas a 30ml bottle of the stuff can be had for $60-$100 and lasts about 3 months. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Formula aside, what would you rather buy? How much does price affect what you’re going to get?

Chantecaille Vetyver

I wore just one spray of this beauty today and the sharp grapefruit that it opens with was perfect for the warm day. Chantecaille Vetyver will always be my favourite warm weather scent and probably as close to a signature scent as I’ll get.

Morning Routine

Quick and easy morning routine form the past few days. I don’t normally use wipes, but I opened this package last week and now I need to finish it before they dry up. Cerave Canada Vitamin C is 10% which is super gentle and in a creamy serum that my skin likes. This one is so affordable. Garnier Ombrelle Sport SPF 30. I bought a small bottle, but I’d take a huge size of this too. It’s completely clear and light-weight. It feels like nothing on my skin, and is completely non-greasy too.

Sisley Eau de Sisley No. 2 Video Review

Green. Herbaceous and sharp, almost astringent like a men’s aftershave, Sisley Eau No. 2 is perfect for a Monday. And of course, it’s got vetiver in it.

Empties: Matrix, Marcelle, Aveeno

Things I finished: Aveeno Sensitive Skin Mineral sunscreen. The most wearable mineral formula but they discontinued it, I don’t know why.Text

Matrix Air Dry styling cream. It was matte. I like shiny.

Marcelle Micellar water. It’s good, but I don’t find there to be a huge difference between al the different waters. This one is affordable.

Murad Skincare Daily Clarifying Peel

I got this Murad Skincare Daily Clarifying Peel a few weeks ago, and I wanted to really use it before I updated because with a mix of AHA, BHA, and retinoid in one product, the risk of irritation is real. Turns out that there’s such a tiny amount of each of these (0.5% of Salicylic Acid, for example), that this wasn’t irritating at all.

TextI actually found the formula to be kind of moisturizing – it’s a biphase formula, so you need to shake it before you use it, and presumably the top layer is a mix of more hydrating ingredients which help make this more gentle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Normally, you wouldn’t introduce all of these into your skincare at the same time, so if you do decide to use this, start slow and go from there. It might be a nice option for a one and done kind of skincare routine.

Ren Evercalm Overnight Recovery Balm

I got a peel a couple of months ago, and for about a week, this Ren Evercalm Overnight Recovery Balm was just about the only thing I could use. It has arnica to sooth and glycerine to attract moisture. The best thing about it is that it’s WATER-SOLUBLE! That means that although it’s greasy, it’s great to use on freshly misted skin to trap in moisture, and it’ll be easy to wash off too. My oily skin doesn’t usually need something so unctious, but I was glad I had it around. It is really for very dry, very sensitive or irritable skin.
