Glossier Hand Cream

TextThe best hand cream is from @glossier and it’s the best smelling one too.

And no, it doesn’t smell like You.

Maybe the same top-notes as You, but nothing else.

The scent is actually so pretty and so addictive that I wish this came as a body cream or body oil, because I’d want to smell like it all the time. I actually bought Glossier You because I thought I’d get the same thing, but the musk in You kind of overpowers everything else to my nose.

I’ve gone through multiple reddit threads looking for this scent, and finally decided that it would just be better to get the hand cream and just use it once in a while. It smells a little like bergamot and neroli. A little fruity and floral all together.

It’s living in my purse now.

Also the package is completely recyclable – you can pop open the lid, wash it out and then put it in your recycling bin.

Tell me your favourite hand cream. And don’t say Glysomed because I’m convinced that one actually leaves your hands more dry than before.

You can get the hand cream here.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Testing Out Alterna Hair Products

TextWhy yes, I do want a hair mask that smells like eucalyptus and actually smooths my hair. Testing out some Alterna hair products for the next little while, and yes, I’ll keep using them because I love how they smell. I haven’t used this brand for a while, but if you’re around my age, you’ll remember a range with caviar in it and Katie Holmes in the ads. They’re also vegan (in case that matters to you).

The home run is the Meltaway No-Rinse Micellar Cleanser. It’s a cream to powder that absorbs oil and sweat, and once it sets, you can brush through it. I’ve used it in my hair a few times and I like it, but you can’t get to the root of your hair like you can with a powder.

Considering the fact that you have to brush your hair after using it, you probably have to have fairly straight and smooth hair to use it, but if you fall into that category, then you will love this.

I’ve been loving all of these products, and they have felt luxurious to use thanks to the spa-like fragrance.  The hairspray is light and brushable and maybe nothing special (I’m partial to my L’Oreal) but I do love the serum, and the hydrating mask.  Those will be used until I’m out of them.

Have you tried any Alterna products? What did you think of them?

Gloves In a Bottle Review

TextIt’s the moisturizer everyone is talking about and the one that keeps disappearing off my desk because it’s THAT popular. The perfect moisturizer for people who don’t want something greasy and will just use a dab. Gloves in a Bottle is a formula that actually coats your hands so that moisture is trapped in, and so this is the best moisturizer for using after you’ve just washed your hands.

I like the new bottle design.

Have you tried this?

You can find it here.

Empties: Vivier, Living Proof, Keri, Shiseido, Oribe, Ouai, Sugar, Nars

So many empties, many of them were trial-sized anyway, but some weren’t. TextSo here are some reviews:

The Nars Creamy Concealer. I use the colour ginger and it’s a pretty good match. Good took me over a year to finish but I did love using it.

Fresh Beauty Sugar Lip Balm in Rose. These are pretty waxy and melty so I only like using them in the winter. In the summer they just fall apart.

Ouai Treatment Mask. So-so and I wouldn’t get a full-sized but I did enjoy the scent of this. Almost like a soft citrus.

Vivier Sheer SPF 30 sunscreen. It’s tinted and a bit obvious but it does settle and the colour isn’t so obvious after that. But… I’d prefer it if it was clear. @livingproofinc Perfect Spray. It was ok. Don’t need to rebuy.

Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil. Smells like neroli and I loved this! I would absolutely buy a nice big bottle of this.

Shiseido Softening toner. It was good. Great for all skin types, and I used it first thing in the morning.

Keri Barrier Renewal Complex. This was a thick rich cream, unfragranced and great for severely dry skin. I would get this again. It’s really moisturizing and uses a variety of ingredients to help your skin.

Aesop Sage and Cedar Scalp Treatment

I love using hair oils at this time of year.  I actually have time to apply them, let them sit and do their work and then wash them out.  I’m testing out this Aesop Sage and Cedar Scalp Treatment which is an oil that has actual essential oils in it.  Cedar is shown to stimulate hair growth, and also is an anti-fungal treatment.TextI’m enjoying the lovely smells of this Aesop Sage and Cedar Scalp Treatment. It really smells like cedar thanks to the addition of cedar essential oil in an almond oil base. It’s a shame, that this is a pre-treatment and meant to be washed out after 15 minutes.

I’m checking out the Aesop Canada website, and it says that there are complimentary standard deliveries which seems very enticing.

Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel EDT Review

TextA polarizing fragrance if there ever was one.

Some say it’s too 70’s and it reminds them of their grandfather or a “dad”. I get the station wagon with wooden panels, corduroy, and bell-bottoms but I don’t think any of those are bad things. There’s also a dampness that reminds me of home and makes this totally worth the $20 I spent on it.

Talika Lipocils Eyeliner and Mascara Review

TextFinally officially reviewing these two Talika products, both containing peptides to nourish your lashes so they grow.

I threw some major shade at the mascara in my stories a while ago because it’s so smudgy. It basically feels like a black lash cream rather than a mascara, that’s how bad this formula is.

The eyeliner is way better and it’s one I can use daily. It works well without primer but with primer it’s even better.

Have you tried these?

Empties: Cantu, Bliss, Naturally Serious, Sol de Janeiro, Elizabeth Arden, YSL, Blistex

TextThings I’ve finished and loved.

Cantu Beauty Skin Therapy lotion – omg I went back and forth about this one a lot. I didn’t like the smell, but then I liked it. It’s a sweet coconut candy. I didn’t like the texture and then I did. Honestly, this would be an amazing summer lotion because it’s light, sets quickly, and is not greasy at all. But it’s also not that moisturizing, so it’s not my favourite for the winter time.

Bliss Vitamin C. I loved this vitamin C. It was light and stable and I’ll always like a pump better than those little dropper bottles. ⠀

Naturally Serious Sleep Over Retin-Oil. Adored this oil, it was super gentle on my skin.

Sol de Janeiro Coco Cabana Cream. This is a mini. Smells tropical but I like the texture of the original Bum Bum Cream better.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Balm. Thick and waxy, this lasted a long time.

YSL The Shock mascara. I bought this in a blue colour and it never smudged or flaked. This is an amazing formula.

Blistex lip balm. It is winter and I’ve been running out of every lip balm I have. This one has spf 25 and I liked that. I’ve gone through lots of tubes of this and it’s great.
