Aerin Tuberose Perfumes

Some people think tuberose smells like their grandma, lucky them. I know my grandmas would have been a fan of these. One of my fav memories with my grandma is going perfume shopping on senior discount days, and helping her choose the right Tupperware to buy.

TextFor someone who doesn’t like tuberose, it seems like I have more than a few tuberose scents but that probably has to do with its popularity in perfumery. These Aerin Tuberose de Soir and de Jour are feminine and gentle, soft and woody in their dry down. They get to stay in the collection.

Estee Lauder Sensuous Nude is my Scent of The Night

I am a spirit of no common state. The summer still doth tend upon my state. Estee Lauder Sensuous Nude is tonight’s wind down vibe. This is a coconut, tuberose, fresh laundry musk, super light, you can use 4 sprays and freshen up fragrance.  Love it.

Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely Perfume

The celebrity perfume that started it all: Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely.

TextI remember reading the huge Chandler Burr article in the NYT, and about the drugstore musk oil she combined with something to make the perfect perfume on herself. It definitely sold the image that here was someone self-assured, who knew what smelled good because she didn’t need some fancy bottle to tell her. And now, we could all smell like her.

You can find this on the discount shelf at Shoppers Drug Mart sometimes, and it is less than $20.  Enjoy!

Empties: Ombrelle, Garnier, Dior, Chanv

Things I finished because I loved them. Chanv oils were such a treat to use and they smelled amazing too.

Text

The massage oil (big bottle) is my favourite and I found the hemp oil to be light but so moisturizing. The smaller bottle is an oil-based face serum which was also nice. Garnier Micellar water takes off even the most stubborn mascara. The Garnier Ombrelle Sport sunscreen is a mini, and I think I bought it for $4. It’s so light, and doesn’t run into your eyes. I think sport formulas for sunscreens are the best. Dior lipgloss. An old beige colour that’s seen better days. It was just time to let it go.

I really enjoyed all the Chanv products that I got, and they are a brand out of Quebec.  If you haven’t tried them before, then you can find them here.

Rare Beauty Lip Souffle in Fearless

Got the Rare Beauty Lip Soufflé in Fearless and I’m surprised.

Text

This formula is different from everything else out there which is cool. It’s so creamy and thick, while still being matte. It has a bit of slip and isn’t truly long-wearing but it’s so comfortable on the lips so I love that. I’d get a larger size but in a brighter colour. Fearless is a bit 90’s. It’s a brownish rose shade.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50+

Congratulations, you got your hands on the most hyped sunscreen of the year, and it is completely average. TextIt’s the La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra Fluid Invisible Finish. I mean, it’s fine. Powdery finish, clear, liquidy. Goes on like nothing and feels like nothing. But there are tons of other sunscreens that offer that too, and if it’s a chemical sunscreen (so not mineral, no zinc oxide) then the sunscreen SHOULD be clear. So actually, because of the powdery finish, this is great for oily skin types, but I wouldn’t use it if my skin was dry or if I had dry patches. I know a lot of you LOVE this – so tell me what you love about it.

All my comments said that it’s the mineral version of this sunscreen that they really liked, and they like that makeup layers well over this without making your skin greasy, and I can 100% agree with all of that.  I just think that this is owned by L’Oreal and they own and make. a lot of sunscreen, so you could get Vichy if you’re having a hard time finding the La Roche Posay.

Also, it’s been about 6 months since I got this sunscreen and I haven’t run out of it yet, because I’m not wearing it that much of it and reach for my tinted sunscreen more than anything else.

$24.65 online.

Bliss Niacinamide Toner Review

Niacinamide is an ingredient that helps with barrier function and pigmentation with fewer side effects. When I use it in my skincare routine, I find that it also seems to lead to less oily skin.

TextThis

Bliss Disappearing Act Niacinamide toner is super gentle – I can use it morning and night – and although nothing makes your pores vanish, I like it for it’s skin balancing effect. I’ve heard from some of you who are waiting for me to work through my Bliss skincare and share what I like. Well, this one is another winner. Bliss is now available at your local Shoppers Drug Mart.

$14.99 at Shoppers Drug Mart.

Gardener’s Glove by St. Clair Scents

Wearing Gardener’s Glove by St. Clair Scents, and it’s got all the things I don’t like but I still love it.

Text

Funny how that happens. Fruit, leather, and then moss.  As the name suggests, this is a leather scent that really channels the outdoors. It has a fruity opening, and you can literally smell the fruit ripening and then falling off the tree, and then rotting as you wear the scent. There’s the smell of fermentation that turns into dirt, and settles into a mossy leathery finish within half an hour. It’s such a comforting smell because it just takes you away from everything.

I have a travel size bottle.

The 13mL was $75 on the St. Clair Scents website.

Tom Ford Lipstick Swatch in Scarlet

Got a mini Tom Ford lipstick with a Sephora order and here’s how it looks.Text

The colour is called Scarlet. I didn’t use lip balm or gloss and you can see how creamy and shiny it is. Honestly, that’s not my fav texture for a bright colour, but this would be preferred for a neutral and it really hid any dryness I had on my lips.

(No filter or retouch on this image either, and I think the colour photographed exactly how it looks in person.)

Carthusia

10 years ago, I went to a Carthusia store in Capri, and of course, bought a bottle of perfume (I’ve been into perfume for a long long time). I have no idea what I bought, and I rarely ever wore it. I actually have no idea what happened to the bottle I bought, but I hope someone out there is enjoying it. ⠀⠀⠀Text

All these Carthusia scents have a lightness and transparency to them, which I’m not really into, and the one I liked the best is Corallium which has a heaviness thanks to myrhh. Mediterraneo was nice too, and probably more wearable for the heat we are having. It’s a citrusy green tea blend, that of course feels light. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Putting these away for now.
