Morning Routine

Quick and easy morning routine form the past few days. I don’t normally use wipes, but I opened this package last week and now I need to finish it before they dry up. Cerave Canada Vitamin C is 10% which is super gentle and in a creamy serum that my skin likes. This one is so affordable. Garnier Ombrelle Sport SPF 30. I bought a small bottle, but I’d take a huge size of this too. It’s completely clear and light-weight. It feels like nothing on my skin, and is completely non-greasy too.

Sisley Eau de Sisley No. 2 Video Review

Green. Herbaceous and sharp, almost astringent like a men’s aftershave, Sisley Eau No. 2 is perfect for a Monday. And of course, it’s got vetiver in it.

Empties: Matrix, Marcelle, Aveeno

Things I finished: Aveeno Sensitive Skin Mineral sunscreen. The most wearable mineral formula but they discontinued it, I don’t know why.Text

Matrix Air Dry styling cream. It was matte. I like shiny.

Marcelle Micellar water. It’s good, but I don’t find there to be a huge difference between al the different waters. This one is affordable.

Murad Skincare Daily Clarifying Peel

I got this Murad Skincare Daily Clarifying Peel a few weeks ago, and I wanted to really use it before I updated because with a mix of AHA, BHA, and retinoid in one product, the risk of irritation is real. Turns out that there’s such a tiny amount of each of these (0.5% of Salicylic Acid, for example), that this wasn’t irritating at all.

TextI actually found the formula to be kind of moisturizing – it’s a biphase formula, so you need to shake it before you use it, and presumably the top layer is a mix of more hydrating ingredients which help make this more gentle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Normally, you wouldn’t introduce all of these into your skincare at the same time, so if you do decide to use this, start slow and go from there. It might be a nice option for a one and done kind of skincare routine.

Ren Evercalm Overnight Recovery Balm

I got a peel a couple of months ago, and for about a week, this Ren Evercalm Overnight Recovery Balm was just about the only thing I could use. It has arnica to sooth and glycerine to attract moisture. The best thing about it is that it’s WATER-SOLUBLE! That means that although it’s greasy, it’s great to use on freshly misted skin to trap in moisture, and it’ll be easy to wash off too. My oily skin doesn’t usually need something so unctious, but I was glad I had it around. It is really for very dry, very sensitive or irritable skin.

Chronotope Playalinda Perfume Review

Scent of the day had to be Chronotope Playalinda since the formula flight was today. This smells like the skin of someone who smells nice. Warm, salty, sunny. There’s something mineral in this that’s reminiscent of sweat. It’s a beach scent in a way that nobody else has thought of doing.

The formula flight was intriguing of course. We smelled the smokiness of Choya Nakh, the earthiness of Oakmoss, and the irresistible pull of ambroxan (which honestly, smelled great on its own too). I rarely wear marine scents, and I’m sure I don’t own a beachy scent (🤔) but I’d wear this one. And I’d love to smell it on someone else.

Favourite Body Products

Things I like to use on my body these days:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Text

Bondi Sands gradual self-tanning lotion. Not very moisturizing, but I love that glow, and I use this every other day. Does it smell? Yes, as the colour develops it does, but honestly, I kind of like the smell so it doesn’t bother me. Also, I use it at night so… I can’t smell it while I’m sleeping.  I actually ended up giving this to a friend who wanted a good self-tanner, and she so appreciated it.  It really does work without being offensive.

NatureWell Retinol Body Cream. Yes, it’s a cream for your body but it has 2 kinds of retinol in it. Again, not super moisturizing, so I put something else on top.  I love this cream, and when I posted about it, so many of my friends bought it and love it too.  It’s at Walmart, and comes in a Vitamin C and coconut version too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Random dry brush. Do you dry brush? I do…It feels scratchy and weird at first, but then very satisfying.

Empties Right Now: Boscia, Vichy, Isle of Roses

Some empties from the last week.

TextBoscia vitamin C is maybe one of my favourite vitamin C’s ever. It’s so watery and absorbs instantly. The packaging also helps it stay stable and I find a pump dispenser so much easier to use than a dropper bottle. it is 10% vitamin C so gentle and effective.

Vichy Laboratories Dercos hair serum is finished too. Did it work? 🤷🏽‍♀️ my hair stylist didn’t say anything when I went to see her last week so… I would say that if you are struggling with hair loss, trying this is worth a shot, if your blood work and everything else is normal.

Isle of Roses hair oil – ugh. This tiny bottle didn’t smell like anything and I used it up in a week.

Lise Watier Metropolis Palette

If my almost-new Lise Watier Metropolis palette is looking a little dinged up, it’s because I’ve been using it almost every day since I got it. It’s a warm bronzer with a warm bronze shimmer.

TextThe shimmer is highlight, and I use the bronzer on my cheeks, not to contour. Because it’s a warm colour, using it where the sun might hit makes it look more natural than putting it under the cheekbones. The shimmer is fine and the powder is super blendable. I’m getting a lot of use from this palette.

Sunscreens in Rotation: Ombrelle, Vichy, and Aveeno

Three sunscreens I’ve had on rotation for the past week. Aveeno Sensitive Skin sunscreen is a thick mineral formula that is so gentle on the face. If your skin is sensitive, this won’t be as ouchy, but yikes the white cast is for sure there.

TextI used this one after my peel because my skin was so sensitive and it was the one that stung the least. Garnier Ombrelle Complete SPF 60. Love this one! It’s a bit of a dewy finish sunscreen but it’s clear and moisturizing. Did you know that Mexoryl is a stabilizer for your sunscreen? Bonus points there.

Vichy Ideal Soleil mineral sunscreen. Also pretty light but ok with foundation on top. Hit or miss for me.
