Shelfie

Wow, just one shelf, look at me, I’m so low-maintenance.Text

J/k, the rest is on the counter and probably still in my suitcase because I try to be minimalist and then end up throwing things in when I still have space.

Anyway, I used to be a HUGE fan of the Kerastase Elixir Ultime because it made my hair so soft, but for humid weather the Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil is definitely better and it goes way further.

I find I need a lot of the Kerastase oil and maybe half as much of the Invisible Oil, so go for that if you’re deciding in between these.

The Neutrogena Bright Boost Moisturizer is absolutely my favourite and gives a glowy finish.

The Neutrogena Vitamin C capsules really deserve a post of their own; they have a silicone-based 20% vitamin C inside that’s a dupe of The Ordinary’s vitamin C.

Deciem Hair Fabric Cleansing Conditioner is a pass for me.

Sunday Riley Ice Moisturizer Review

Text

Mini Sunday Riley Ice Moisturizer.

Has anyone tried this? It is a ceramide cream which is a bit thicker than what I’d normally use and leaves your skin super glowy. I used up my sample, but I wouldn’t purchase this because it’s nice but pretty basic.

Lise Watier Rouge Intense Lipsticks

Normally, I’m a sucker for matte lipsticks, but these new ones from @lisewatier are creamy goodness that sets into a long-wearing formula, so I’m ok with being team glossy for a second. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

TextThese are 5 colours from the Lise Watier Rouge Intense Supreme line and they’re incredibly pigmented, comfortable to wear, but also long-wearing. This formula would be what I would call rich, and it’s perfect for daily wear because it’s not drying. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀I have the colours Alex, Jessica, Lily, Cyrielle, and Rosie. Rosie, Lily, and Cyrielle are my favourites and the ones I’m reaching for the most.

Here’s me wearing Cyrielle.

Empties: L’Oreal Wonder Water and a Mist

Empties from the drugstore: another bottle of Wonder Water and I have a bottle on vacay too. You know I love this stuff and I keep a backup. It is best used before a blow-dry.

I’ve just ordered another bottle too – you can get it from Amazon.

TextAlso a bottle of Indeed Labs antioxidant mist which honestly, I wouldn’t need get again because… I’m basically using it to keep cool and it seems a bit pricy for that.

SAFRAN TROUBLANT ICE CREAM

I know I’ve posted about L’Artisan Parfumeur Safran Troublant a ton, but it’s a scent that just spoke to me. The notes are gourmand – saffron, rose, vanilla – but the sandalwood base anchors the scent and prevents it from being too sweet. ⠀TextI couldn’t help but think that it would make a nice ice cream, because the scent itself really reminded me of so many Indian desserts, where rose-water is often used as much as vanilla is used in American desserts. I googled a recipe and here we are, saffron ice cream. It has a dose of grocery-store rose water that really shines, and the custard base anchors this ice cream instead of sandalwood in the perfume. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

TextChopped pistachios as a garnish are my own touch, and if I had to make this again, I might take it easy on the saffron and reduce the sugar a touch. A bit of ground cardamom might also work well and would be so appropriate.

Vichy Ideal Soleil Mineral Tinted Sunscreen

Light, runny texture and a long-lasting formula. Vichy Ideal Soleil mineral tinted sunscreen does not disappoint. No, the colour doesn’t match me perfectly, but sometimes, I don’t care, and other times I put makeup on top. *compliments of Vichy.

If you follow me on Instagram, you can see a reel where I apply it on my skin.

About $26, online.  But probably on sale now too!

Antipodes Moisture-Boost Lipsticks

TextHealthy or not, I’m loving these two colours of lipstick from @antipodesskincare , a skincare company out of New Zealand. These are their Moisture-Boost lipsticks which are actually in a creamy satin-matte formula, so they go on smoothly but then set to a more long-wearing traditional finish.

I’ve been seeing this type of a lipstick formula everywhere (the Lise Watier lipsticks I talked about last week were similar, way more creamy but also set), and I like it because it offers more versatility than ever before. You aren’t tugging at your lips to get that matte finish on them.

L’Artisan Parfumeur Safran Troublant Review

TextSafran Troublant by L’Artisan Parfumeur is a scent that was recommended to me by so many people at different times and contexts – when people say that I love rose scents, and when they saw that I’m having a moment with Rooh Afza, a rose-flavoured syrup from my childhood. Also, saffron which makes a frequent appearance in my life, just lends itself to my scent memories. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

TextSafran Troublant smells like Ras Malai – that milky refreshing Indian dessert – except Safran Troublant is warm and comforting. It’s the perfect fragrance for the end of the day because of its coziness. Rose, Saffron, creamy lactonic notes, and a bit of sweetness. It’s gourmande without being cloying.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

People have said that this disappears on them – it doesn’t on me. It doesn’t have great sillage or projection, but it does last and last. It just changes, and I have to say that Saffran Troublant has the longest transformation time of any of my perfumes. I smells like itself for a full 8 hours, but then after that it turns into a creamy sandalwood, so milky that it reminds you of dessert. This makes it the perfect cold-weather scent, particularly for a chilly spring day. You get that rose saffron combo during the day but at night, you go to bed in the cozy embrace of sandalwood. What could be better?

Bumble and Bumble and Christophe Robin Empties

Empties from the weekend:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Bumble and Bumble Save the Day Daytime Protective Repair Fluid. In the end, I loved this and it made my hair so soft. It wasn’t great for blowdrying but I liked it for air-drying and as a general leave-in conditioner type of product. It’s a bit liquidy and I needed a lot if I used it on wet hair. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Text

Also, Christophe Robin salt-based shampoo – yes, that’s the one in the jar. This stuff is amazing for when you want a deep clean, and I used it just a couple of times a month and it lasted a long time. It is very foaming which is what you want when you’re in the mood for a deep clean.

Tarte Shape Tape Glow Powder in Starlit

TextHere is Tarte Cosmetics Shape Tape Glow Powder in Starlit, which is part of their Shape Tape collection. People have compared it to the iconic Hourglass Luminous setting powders and I would say it’s BETTER. Less glowy and more wearable.

It also seems to blur imperfections but without coverage. Try it UNDER foundation or sunscreen and see if it sticks better! That’s my favourite way to use this.

Available at Sephora stores now.
