Skin Proud Skincare

A beauty trend right now is skincare marketed to younger teens – forget about Noxema, we are talking about skincare that’s non-stripping, mindful of the skin barrier, and feels comforting. It’s a theory I have, and here’s my proof:

Skin Proud’s Sleep Hero Sleep Mask smells like black currants, but the retinoid (which has a tiny amount of a mild retinoid, and a dusting of bakuchiol) smells like cotton candy. The retinoid is in a moisturizing serum, instead of the chalky base of more intense and major retinoids we geriatric millennials are using. Honestly, I love using both of these because the textures are so bouncy and comfortable on my skin. The benefit is that this line is at Walmart and more affordable. I’ve talked about the Sephora and Starbucks kids, and this is a line for when they’d rather save their money for Starbucks.

I’m not a derm, but probably a retinoid is something you want to use if your doctor suggests it.

For fairly straight-foward skincare, there’s always Cerave. The pm Facial Moisturizing Lotion is as basic as it gets and also doesn’t break the bank. I’ve gone through countless tubes of the sunscreen. and it might not be as trendy as other options but, again, it’s affordable so anyone can use tons of it.

All this to say that I’m slightly envious of today’s kids with their options. I remember being a teen with acne and going to my family doctor who told me to just use Ivory Soap. So I used it as often as I could and ended up with cracked and dry – but still greasy – skin. Those days are long gone.
