Chloe Sevigny at the 2010 Golden Globes

Just a beautiful throwback because I think we all needed it today.
Chloe Sevigny looks flawless at the 2010 Golden Globes.  As I write this, she’s already won for best supportive actress and she’s ripped her beautiful cupcake icing of a dress.  Her makeup is hard to see in this picture, but she had a dark greyish mauvish shadow that complimented her dress, kept her makeup to her usual barely there, and still made an impact. Thoughts anyone?

New Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Lipsticks and Swatches

Make Up For Ever has a new lipstick collection called, Rouge Artist, and if you’re a lipstick lover, then you’re going to want to check it out. The formula is creamy but sets matte so that these are easy to apply but then very long-wearing.

I have three colours: Sassy Rhubarb, Brave Punch, and Poised Rosewood. Can you tell that I like pink?

Here’s me wearing Sassy Rhubarb, which is my favourite colour.  You can see that it’s a warm pink that really suits my colouring.

Poised Rosewood is another favourite.  Usually lipstick shades titled Rosewood are a hit with me.  This was a neutral pink.

Of the colours I got, Brave Punch just didn’t really work.  It was a little too cool-toned for my liking and I would have had to change all my makeup to really get it to work.  That’s too much to do.

Again, I have to say that I’m really thrilled with this formula – it hydrates and feels comfortable on my lips.  All the shades I tried are very pigmented and I was able to get full coverage in 1 coat.

These are $31 each and available at Sephora. Have you tried them?

Video: How To Apply Liquid Eyeliner

I’ve really tried to master liquid eyeliner over the past few weeks – and the best way to get good at it is to practice again and again, until you’re happy with where the line is going. Watch the video to see how I do it.

http://www.instagram.com/tv/B_-6VNfpyrw/

I was so nervous making this video because anytime I make a video it’s almost a guarantee that something will go wrong, but I’m so happy with the way my eyeliner turned out.

I used Revlon Colorstay Liquid Liner Skinny. It stays on all day and I’ve gotten used to how skinny it is, even though this isn’t the eyeliner I went to the store to buy.

Bumble and Bumble Curl Line

You guys, Bumble and Bumble has reformulated their entire Curl Care line so that it’s even more hydrating than ever before. The collection is enhanced with Avocado, Jojoba and Coconut Oils to provide lasting moisture and hydration to curly hair which has a tendency to be extra dry. As someone who has curly hair, I can attest to the fact that my hair is needlessly dry.

I’m trying out all the products you see below, and I have to say that my favourites are the mousse and the 3-in-1 Conditioner.  It’s a 3-in-1 because you can use it as a Co-Wash instead of just a conditioner.  If you’re unfamiliar, a co-wash is where you wash your hair with conditioner instead of shampoo because it’s more moisturizing and not as drying.  I love that the 3-in-1 Conditioner isn’t as drying as a regular shampoo but not as thick as a regular conditioner so it strikes just the right balance for my hair.

The Bumble and Bumble Curl line can be found in salons and wherever you normally buy your Bumble and Bumble products.

$31 for the 3-in-1 Conditioner, online.  Also, when you order from the website, there are some good deals to be had and they are generous with the samples which I really appreciate.  My salon – Jerome Salon – is also generous with the samples.

Best Beauty

Some favourites. Kind of wish I had kept the Armani Idole for myself.

I gifted this perfume to a friend and she has received countless compliments on it.  Should I have worn it myself?

The best body lotions you can use – we’re all out of Borba and seriously thinking of stocking up, while the Vaseline one has kept our cuticles at bay this winter.

Did you already see Kirsten Stewart of Twilight and her makeover?

Finally, this is probably one of the best books that I’ve ever read.

Dsquared2 Does MAC

I know this collection came out in 2009, but I sitll have the lip conditioners from it, and love it. Anyone else holding on to makeup? Wish I could find these Greasepaint sticks though!

dsquared from macThe always-fashionable Canadian twins Dan and Dean Caten are collaborating with MAC to create a collection that shouldn’t be missed. Strong, sooty and the blackest-ever eye, new Greasepaint Stick colours, Sculpt and Shape Powders and Pro Lip Erase are all part of this dangerously sexy line.

When I first heard about the Greasepaint Stick I was skeptical about how these limited edition shades would translate from runway to real world. When V, the rich purple shade, arrived at my door I was pleasantly surprised. Smooth and ultra creamy, the eye crayon with an opalescent sparkle, is ideal for creating an intense but soft lash line or can be blended to for a more dramatic, smoky eye. Give it a few seconds to lock and you can rest easy knowing your colour won’t move an inch.

Annabelle Swerve Supreme Mascara

I posted a quick Reel of this Annabelle Swerve Supreme Mascara on Instagram, and here is the full review.

Check out the little pointy bristles on this mascara wand. This is a mascara for those who want separated lashes. The formula is good – smudge-free, flake-free, and easy to wash off, but honestly, this mascara doesn’t give a lot of oomph, so it wasn’t a favourite of mine.

Have you tried any Annabelle mascaras? What did you think?

$9.95 online or at Shoppers Drug Mart.

XO Treatment Room Heavy C

Did you know that there are different kinds of vitamin C in your skincare? The most popular kind is ascorbic acid, but there’s also ethyl ascorbic acid which is more stable and for me it seems to add more of a glow to my skin. It’s also a kind of vitamin C that has been shown to work well with retinol and so you can use those together if you want to fight pigmentation at night time.

I got the Heavy C serum when I went for a facial at XO Treatment room and I’ve been loving it. It has hyaluronic acid in it so I find it to be pretty moisturizing and comfortable on my skin. I use it in the morning and it works so well with the rest of my skincare.

$50.95 available online.
