Lise Watier Dark Corrector
Have you heard? This fall, Lise Watier reformulated their Portfolio Corrector palette and the colours are now creamier than ever. I previously reviewed the corrector in the Beiges shades, and although I really loved using this palette, I did feel that a lot of the colours were super light on my skin. I would have wanted some depth to them.
So now I’ve also got the Corrector palette in Dark and I’ve been playing around with it for the past little bit. I think this palette is too dark for my skin tone, but that’s ok! It’s super pigmented and perfect for those with deep-dark skin tones. There are shades to colour correct and also shades to conceal so there’s a little bit of everything. There’s red tones and orange tones and I would use them if they weren’t so dark on me.
Below, I’ve got the two palettes side-by-side and it seems that they’re pretty close in shades, but the lighter one veers really light and the darker one is quite a bit deeper. What the two have in common is that they’re both very pigmented, and creamy to apply, setting to a powdery matte finish.
Here are swatches of the darkest palette.
Although I’m able to use a couple of colours from the Beiges palette, I really wish that Lise Watier had a palette in between the beige and the dark. I sometimes need an orange or reddish shade that is more pigmented and not as dark as the ones in the Dark palette. If you’re medium-toned like me, you might only get a little bit of use out of the Beige palette that that’s kind of a waste.

I used the Colab Hair Dry Shampoo in this video – it also comes in an extra strength formula which is more heavily scented and drier. This one smells like roses which is why I love it.

Marion Cotillard at 2010 Golden Globes
If you want a way to wear colour on your eyes, here’s some inspiration for you.
The puff is dramatic but it really balances her look and lets her amazing features shine. The grey under her eyes matches her dress and yet it’s not too matchy matchy which is hard to pull off!
Kenzo Eaus
If you’re a fan of light and airy perfumes, you have to check out this trio of Kenzo Eau’s. The scents came out in 2008 and are often overlooked because of the cult favourites Amour and Flower are what get attention.
The story behind the scents is that each is named for a Japanese tea and is to evoke a soft scent. There is Magnolia, Tea, and Silk, and by far my favourite from the three is the Magnolia. It is a fresh floral because there are opening citrus notes that then lead into the magnolia.
All the scents are well done – they are not boring, but they are simple and they work. Kenzo has said that it will be adding to the collection each year, so lets see what this fall brings! You can get Kenzo fragrances online.
Marc Jacobs Lola
Do you remember Marc Jacobs Lola? I think it’s time to bring a bit of fun and whimsy back into our lives, and these bottles need to come back.
I have it and love it. It is one that I can wear everyday and not get tired of it. It is a fragrance that’s lovely and pretty but isn’t overly feminine. It’s young and fun without being frivolous and why shouldn’t it be? The perfumers are Calice Becker and Yann Vasnier for Givauden fragrance house.
Without further ado, notes are:
Top notes: Pink Peppercorn, Pear and Pink Grapefruit
Middle notes: Peony, Rose, and Geranium
Base notes: Vanilla, musk, and tonka bean.
Despite there being Vanilla in the fragrance, it’s subtle in the drydown and you can mostly just smell a mixture of musk and flowers.
Why don’t we hear about Marc Jacobs perfumes anymore? Is there nothing interesting about them anymore?
There is only a eau de parfum for this and 100 ml retails for $105. There are accompanying body care products as well.
Is Moroccanoil Bad For Your Hair?
Have you heard that Moroccanoil makes your hair fall out? Makes your scalp itchy? Leaves your hair dryer than when you started using it? That it’s full of silicones and they’re bad for your hair? That it’s not even from… Morocco? Is Moroccanoil bad for your hair?
The short answer is… that it’s not more bad than other hair products. Which generally means that it’s fine.
Some people done like the silicones that are in the Moroccanoil, but there are silicones in lots of hair care products. If you go looking for hair products without them, your list will be pretty short. That’s because they make your hair so soft and make it look conditioned. They improve the look and feel of your hair, and so they’re in virtually everything, from shampoos to conditioners to hair serums. It was the key ingredient in John Frieda’s original Frizz Ease hair serum and it has been copied many times over.
The problem is that overuse of silicones can cause them to build up on your hair – but that’s why we wash our hair. To get rid of any build-up or any silicones that might now be mixed with sweat and dirt and oil. Wash your hair and start fresh, and if anything incorporate some silicone-free products into your routine.
You might also have an allergic reaction to any ingredient in Moroccanoil, in which case, don’t use it. But that can happen with any product periodt.
I think that people start conspiracy theories whenever a product because popular because they don’t like it and it doesn’t work for them. But is Moroccanoil bad for your hair? Probably not.

Physician’s Formula Nutrient Mist Facial Spray
This is a gorgeous hydrating mist that has water and glycerine mixed together to create a miss that adds hydration which you’re then going to seal in by adding a moisturizer on top. What I’ve really been finding is that it also relieves dry skin after I’ve worn a mask for a while. I spray it, apply more moisturizer, and. then my skin feels way better.

Does Gloves in a Bottle Work?
I keep seeing ads for Glove in a Bottle because it is supposed to give your hands a shield so that you can clean better. If you’ve been deep-cleaning your house because of being home due to the pandemic, then you might have dryness on your hands. I’ve found that repeatedly dipping my hands into Tide water just kills the moisture barrier and there’s no hope to save these hands. Instead, I wear gloves and clean to my heart’s content, and I even get my kids to wear gloves and help me.
On social media, people are talking about Gloves in a Bottle and how it is saving their hands. Honestly, I tried this years ago and I found that it doesn’t have a very luxurious moisturizing feel on my hands. It provides a bit of a barrier to help protect your hands, but I still prefer wearing regular gloves if I am going to repeatedly dip my hands in the water.
