Moroccanoil Leave-In Conditioner

If you want some help detangling your kids’ hair, then this is what you need. Moroccanoil’s new Leave-In Conditioner is a milky spray that hydrates and detangles without any heaviness. I’m obsessed with it and use it in my own hair too. It feels moisturizing and conditioner but then doesn’t leave a residue on my dry hair. Truly, it’s amazing.

Up Your Mask Game with Vichy

These Vichy masks are on sale right now if you go to the Vichy.ca website! They are $27 instead of $35 which is a good deal.  The Double Glow one is my fav, but they are all good!

Ok, masks are officially the must-have skincare products of the year.  Whether you’re into paper masks, or the traditional spread-on variety, today’s masks are what will take care of any skin-care problems you might have.  It could be the Korean influence, or just us realizing that having good skin is better than using FaceTune on a daily basis.

So Vichy now has everything you need for your mask wardrobe – whether you have dry, oily, or problematic skin, there’s a mask for you.  The addition of finely ground up volcanic rock help scrub a little as you take this mask off, and vitamin C helps brighten your skin tone while it’s on.

The Double Glow Peel Mask (on the very left) has fruit acids in it that give a slight tingle on your skin as they help exfoliate.

The clay mask is for pore purifying and leaves skin with a lovely matte finish.  Kaoline and Bentonite help absorb impurities and aloe vera smoothes and hydrates at the same time.  This is definitely the smoothest and best-smelling mask I’ve ever used.  It smells like sandalwood, and helps me relax.  I like to use this first thing in the morning, because my skin tends to get oily during the day, and this mask helps minimize that oil.

The Mineral Quenching Mask is the best one for dry skin, and is a mask that you can leave on overnight.  Apply on your skin, wait five minutes, and then just massage the excess into your skin to maximize hydration.  It has mineralized thermal water (a Vichy staple!), glycerine, and mint extract, so it really feels fresh and clean on the skin.

Christophe Robin Regenerating Hair Serum

Are you into silicone-free hair products? I have to admit, I kind of am. I’m not against silicone, but I think it’s good to mix it up because overuse of them can cause build up on your hair.  This is also why you want to wash your hair regularly and not just douse it in dry shampoo.

Anyway, natural French hair-care line, Christophe Robin now has a Regenerating Serum with Prickly Pear Extract which is great for dry hair. It is silicone-free and adds moisture, with 94% of the ingredients coming from natural origin.

I love how shiny this makes my hair, and my advice is to use it on wet hair, not dry hair, because it’ll make your hair crunchy if you put it on hair that is already dry.  This was good for adding a bit of hold also, and I love it so much that I’m almost out of it.

I’m really into the packaging too.  It comes in a heavy glass bottle with a pump.  You can see that the bottle is lacquered black which adds to the loveliness of the product. You can also use this as a heat protectant and it can seal split ends to make for a smoother finish.

This gets 5 stars from me.  Buy it where you find your Christophe Robin products, including Sephora. $68.

Bath and Body Works Gives Thanks

I have to say that because of me buying so much hand sanitizer this year, Bath and Body Works at my local mall was the one store that I couldn’t wait to go into.  They have the best-smelling stuff and their sanitizer smells better than everything else out there.

This fall, I have two of their candles on rotation too – Leaves and Sweater Weather – cue the SNL sketch here, which if you haven’t seen, you gotta find. Sweater Weather smells vaguely of apples and trees.  It’s not a distinctly fall scent, but it kind of goes well with cooler weather, if you know what I mean.

Leaves is in the same vein and you’ll be relieved to know that it doesn’t smell like dry leaves.  If you have a hard time figuring out what your smelling, don’t bother checking the notes on the bottom.  They are laughably off, and arguably are randomly chosen words that have scents associated with them.

I like that the candles come with a lid. You should keep your scented candles lidded, or under a cloche, or in their box so that the scent doesn’t dissipate.  Look at the beautiful lid of this Leaves candle.  The attention to detail is spot on and really makes this seem more luxurious than it is.

This season, they also come packed in a pink gift box so that you can thank someone in your life.  I grateful for a lot of people in my life so I won’t have trouble giving this candle away. I hope you do too!

Kerastase Genesis Shampoo and Conditioner Review

One of the most common questions I get is about how to stop hair loss.  Mostly, it’s from people I know and see on a regular basis, so I know that some of their hair loss is perceived.  They think they’re losing more hair than usual, but when I look at them, I can see that their hair usually looks the same as it’s always been.

That being said, using a shampoo and conditioner specifically made to make your hair stronger is always a great idea, if you have no other concerns for your hair, and that’s why I was looking forward to trying the Kerastase Genesis Shampoo and Conditioner.

There are 2 shampoos in the line – one to hydrate and one to nourish.  I used the Bain Hydra-Fondant.  The shampoo is totally clear and creates a ton of lather.  It’s fantastic for really getting product build-up out of your hair without stripping it. I loved that a quarter-sized amount really got my hair totally clean.

I also used the Masque Reconsituant which is rich and think and everything you want in a hair mask.  I was able to smooth it through my hair and it really made my hair soft and smooth.  It also washed out very well and didn’t add any heaviness to my hair.  In fact, because I was using the hydrating shampoo, which is on the light side, my hair felt light and soft after I used these two.

They’re both in my round-up of shampoos and conditioners I’m using right now.  I use a heavier shampoo most days, but like to use the mask everyday.

Marc Jacobs Kumquat

Here’s an almost finished bottle of Marc Jacobs Kumquat. I found it the garage… not sure how it ended up in there.

It smells fresh and like kumquats without being too orang-y. It’s a great fresh splash for when you don’t really want perfume. I really wish I had kept the bottles of cucumber and rain, but I don’t know if I did. I’m not a hoarder, so there’s a chance that I got rid of them when I was done with them.

Oh well.

Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Mist Review

Indeed Labs is a Canadian skincare brand that aims to bring scientific skincare solutions to the drugstore. Their products are pretty reasonably priced considering the formulas and you can find them at Shoppers Drug Mart. We have been having the hottest summer, and I’ve been keeping a nice mist beside me so that I can cool myself down.

A skincare mist – like the Hydraluron one – is better than using just plain water on your face. This one has a dose of hyaluronic acid in it, and antioxidants. It leaves your skin looking dewy and feeling fresh, but if you live in a dry climate, you want to lock that in with moisturizer, or an oil.

Benefit Brow MircroFilling Pen

Three tips instead of one in this marker-type pen from brow authority Benefit Cosmetics. It makes filling in brows so easy but runs out after I’m done 1 eyebrow, so I have to give it a chance to recharge before I use it on the next one. It’s pretty standard for eyebrow pens, to be honest.

Ole Henriksen C-Rush Brightening Gel Crème

I got a smaller size of this Ole Henriksen C-Rush Vitamin C Moisturizer in the 3 Mega Wonders Set, and I’ve been using it as part of that set every morning.  I use the toner and then apply this moisturizer and I like the both of them together.

The moisturizer is great for all skin types because it’s hydrating and not greasy.

They haven’t listed how much vitamin C is in this moisturizer but I did find it to be brightening.

Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective Mask

Masks are something that I use in dire conditions.  When my skin is tight, or overheated.  When I can feel that it’s dry, I know that using a mask in the morning and at night can help to calm and soothe.  I like to use sheet masks when I travel but use a mask in a pot while I’m at home.

This Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective Mask is filled with antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, and gets the green colour from botanicals like cucumber which can further help soothe skin.
